Overview
The Sorlen Republic is a small nation that controls a small section of the Outer Edge of the Plolenthian Galaxy. It is a type II civilization.
History
The nation was founded in 98,967 CE: it was founded by separatists who disliked the United Plolenthian Federation. They migrated towards the Outer Edge and then colonised some planets. The separatists formed a semi-democracy but centuries later the government became weak and there was a coup d'etat which overthrew the government and transformed the nation into a totalitarian-dictatorship.
Economy
The Sorlen Republic is economically far left; there are no corporations at all and everything is owned by the government. Taxes are also extremely high.
Government
The Sorlen Republic is a One-Party-Totalitarian-Dictatorship; the party's name is simply the "Sorlen Party". The government is one of the most corrupt in the Plolenthian Galaxy. The leader is titled the "Supreme Leader" and has unlimited power.
Society
Everyone from top to bottom (except the "Supreme Leader") is oppressed and live in constant fear.
Elite Party & Military Members: They are at the top of this society and consist of 1% of the total population. They have the highest standard of living and but it is only equivalent or even slightly lower than that of a Class Two citizen of the UPF although the "Supreme Leader" lives luxuriously. Despite having better comfort than the rest of the population - they may be executed at random by the orders of the "Supreme Leader" due to the suspicion of them plotting to take over.
Squad Units; They are feared throughout all levels of Sorlenian Society. These include: Paramilitary, Secret Police etc. They consist of 5% of the population. Their standard of living is slightly lower than that of a Class Three citizen of the UPF.
Low-Ranking Party Members: They consist of 10% of the population and work at a ministry office. They do intellectual work opposed to the manual labor of the Working Class. Their standard of living is similar of that of someone in a Squad Unit.
Working Class: They are part of 84% of the population; they work in manual labour and live in poverty with many of them living in cramped, run-down apartments in polluted cities.
Prisoners: Most prisoners are imprisoned in forced labor camps for life while some are tortured and executed. Their standards of living is even lower than the Working Class and they are forced to work 18 hours a day.
Laws
There are many things you are not allowed to do and there's also things you are forced to do. There are cameras and microphones everywhere which track every movement and sound someone makes, If someone is caught doing something illegal then they are arrested by the secret police and put in a forced labor camp without trial as the judicial system is non-existent in the Sorlen Republic.
