Strangelets, a small "drop" of Strange Matter only nano-meters across, are formed when 2 neutron stars collide, ejecting matter from the centers of the dead stars. When they come into contact with any ordinary matter, the matter instantly becomes as dense as a neutron stars, crushing the target and turning them into water molecule size remnants.

Strangelet bombs are a weapon once commonly used by many Confederacy of Borealis warships. They were stored within long barrels divided into many sectors. Each sector contains 5 chemical rocket powered missiles that use a strong gravitational field to hold strangelets inside without destroying the ship.

Any target selected impacted by the missile would have been converted into the hyper dense matter and shrink down to the size of a molecule. all the energy is used in this conversion to strange matter, so there would have been no blast, minimizing collateral damage.

The tiny remnants then were fed into mini black holes without a problem. These black holes were stored inside the same barrel, but closer to the middle of the ship than the strangelet pellet containment sectors.

Currently, the devise is illegal as well as obsolete. The collateral damage, while rare, has caused trillions of deaths. Additionally, Point-Defense systems has rendered them almost useless. Using the expensive, illegal, and dangerous strange matter as a useless weapon has largely phased it out of favor.
