The Empire (Empire of Achenar), is a galactic superpower and republic monarchy. It is one of the largest major factions in the Milky Way. The current reigning emperor is Lazarus Decroix. The Capitol, seat of the emperor, is located in Achenar, Achenar.
Imperial society however, is not based on a cliens system, much like Rome. Citizens can freely move between social classes which are determined by the haves or have-nots. Each citizen has rights and freedoms, such things that are illegal are slavery, illegal narcotics, stolen goods, and recreational cloning.
The Empire has densely settled star systems with trillions of civilians. The Imperial economy has a huge GDP which funds a well-equipped Imperial Navy.

Third World War
"The war on Earth was brutal, billions of lives were lost, countless nations ceased to exist as the path of destruction rages on. Earth's population was nearly down by the tens of millions after the war ended.
The Third World War saw this exploration expenditure dragged back again and it wasn't until the very end of the 21st century that colonies on Mars and the Moon became truly permanent and viable. -Seculus Invictus "
After the war, the surviving nations merged with the United States of America and the others joining over the few decades. It was renamed the Federation, as the name implies it had a constitution and laws derived from all the nations, but much was simplified.
Colonization of Achenar
What is now known the Empire began around the 22nd Century, Earth increasingly became more polluted and the environment was getting worse each decade due to global warming, people flocked to find different systems and planets that could support life like Earth. The founding fathers of the Empire led them to a distant star called Achenar, a few hundred light years away from Sol.
