The Oklahoma City Incident was an incident that occurred in June of 2016, involving two Acrocanthosaurus atokensis that broke out of a Greene Foundation exhibition at the Broken Arrow Zoo, where the dinosaurs were intended to be displayed.

Background

The Greene Foundation under the leadership of Thaddeus Greene, had used an experimental soviet Vietnam War-era particle collider to rip holes in time and bring back hundreds of prehistoric creatures to the present in order to learn about and preserve these ancient animals. These animals were kept a highly-guarded secret, as to not cause too much excitement among the public.

In April of 2016 the Greene Foundation, who had already publicly unveiled a variety of recently extinct species, had decided to unveil the first prehistoric species.

The event had been hyped up for months, and buzz around what it could be was massive

The Incident

At 11:30 AM on June 15, 2016 a large crowd had been gathered around the entrance of a new attraction that had just finished construction at the Broken Arrow Zoo, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

At 12:00 AM the attraction was unveiled 'The Cretaceous Plains' set to be focused on Early Cretaceous animals that were once native to the region, such as Zephyrosaurus, Tenontosaurus, Sauroposeidon and the main attraction of the exhibit Acrocanthosaurus.

Upon witnessing real living dinosaurs, the crowd erupted in excitement. Reporters and news casters clammored to get information on how the Greene Foundation managed to revive the prehistoric reptiles, while other attendees shouted and snapped photos.

And despite efforts from zoo and Greene Foundation staff to calm the crowd down, the chaos continued. The loud noises started to agitate the two adult Acrocanthosaurus in their habitat. Noticing the animal in distress, Thaddeus attempted to end the event prematurely, but the crowd was unwilling to leave.

and due to the continuing noise and other stressors the bull Acrocanthosaurus breached containment and performed a threat display at the crowd, sending the people into a panic.

Again, attempts to evacuate and control the situation fell upon deaf ears.

The Bull and Doe proceeded to rampage through the zoo, crushing 3 people to death underfoot, before breaking out of the zoo's grounds and into the surrounding suburbs. There the animals were met with even more noise and unfamiliar stimuli, and they attempted to flee into a forested area, causing several car accidents as they sprinted across roadways and distracted drivers.

The national guard was eventually called and arrived and much to the protests of Thaddeus Greene and many others opened fire onto the animals eventually killing them.

Aftermath

See: The De-Extinction Act of 2011

Following the incident the U.S. government held a hearing where they proposed the De-Extinction Act in which no animal with a temporal range ending before the beginning of the Pleistocene could be created.
