"We began as wanderers, and we are wanderers still."
This content is a part of Borealis Universe.

Thievin was the homeworld of the Anivin Merchant Republic, serving as their main economic and population center before the Republic's downfall. It is located in the NGC 2191 galaxy, known as the Gimwell Galaxy, more specifically in the Bivitae system. It orbits the System Barycenter, made up by binary stars Volucri and Profug. Due to circumstances regarding the planet's creation, it was, and still is, home to an abundance of a type of heavy atom, usually found in solid form in the planet's crust, known as Corredium, which, when used as a fuel, is capable of achieving travel near the speed of light. It is a Temperate Terra world with 8 moons, though only one had earned, in Anivinian eyes, the right to be recognised as a moon, the largest, called Lughis. The others were considered mere asteroids, unworthy of merit or name, outside of a string of numbers.

Physical:

Natural Geography

Thievin's geography is centered around one very large, Pangea-esc continent, which is dotted by sizeable lakes. The equator is home to a large belt of thick forest and rainforest, dominated by 2 large mountain ranges. Due to the bird-like nature of the Anivins, the trees are also home to a sizeable portion of the country, contained in tree-cities like the capital of Nesticodendron, and were home to almost all of the wealthy elite, the families of Boinebrook, Morneweg and Malfante no exception.

Anivin Geography

Due to the relatively low population density of the tree-cities, even in the most dense woodland, the majority of the population, and disproportionately the poorest, live on the ground. Before the advent of FTL, almost all those who lived on the ground worked as either a miner, or something related to Corredium. The island of Udrin, the largest on Thievin, is mostly flat, and due to its secluded nature it was chosen to be the patient zero of Corredium mining operations. After FTL, by habit or neccessity, almost all of the Anivins who were on the ground remained there, and became the heart of the emergent spaceship industry.

Wildlife

Thievin, on the surface, does not boast much wildlife diversity, outside of a few species in the Rainforest. However, after the advent of FTL, and then again after the Anivinian War of Independence, the vast network of tunnels, excavated in their quest for Corredium, has been left unmaintained and nature, over the years, has returned to them, over time creating a whole new ecosystem crawling with new and unique species. The connected oceans of Thievin have allowed for an ocean teeming with life. Biodiversity is present in Thievin, if you know where to look.

History

The planet was formed 3.59 billion years ago, as of 2017CE. Over a billion years later, it picked up a rogue asteroid, which accumulated space debris so much that, by the time the Anivins achieved sapience, in approximately 8400000BCE, it was clearly visible in the night's sky. The first unicelluar organisms developed on Thievin around 2 billion BCE, shortly after the ocean formed. Multicellular organisms first developed at 1.5 billion BCE. Anivin excavations of Udrin found evidence suggesting that the first creatures set foot on land at roughly 1 billion BCE. Due to the dense rainforest and plentiful prey on the ground, Avian life flourished, leading to the first sentient species to be Avian, known as the Anivins.
