The KT Extinction Event
A day like any other. Dinosaurs thrive across the globe and come in all shapes and sizes ranging from the titanic Argentinosaurus to even the tiny Microraptor. These beautiful animals live together in an ancient ecosystem unchanged for 165 million years. The dinosaurs live their days as usual; eat, sleep, hunt, breed, take care of their young and other behaviours.
However all of that was destroyed when a simple detail in the sky had changed. An asteroid, looking no different than another star, was barreling towards Earth at 20 km a second and grew day by day. Until. One day, as the dinosaurs and many other prehistoric animals were living their usual lives, the asteroid slammed into the Earth with such force it created a fireball that was 31 km wide, killing everything within. The historical event had caused large amounts of Carbon Dioxide to be released into the atmosphere that blocked out any sunlight for the next 2 years. The Earth was warmed so much to the point where it had rained glass which ultimately killed all the Pterosaurs.
Within a span of a few months, every single dinosaur was wiped out completely with the exceptions of birds.
The Valley
The dinosaurs didn't all die out however.
As Pangaea was still largely connected, hundreds of species of Mesozoic species were able to escape their extinction. A giant valley had protected the animals from the catastrophic events that were happening outside however with the force of the animals rushing into the valley at once, combined with the earthquakes, the valley had shut leaving unfortunately leaving the rest of the animals to face extinction.

After the annihilation of the non-bird dinosaurs. Mammals took the reign from the giant reptiles. After the 2 years of blocked sun the plants had begun to grow again and with that the herbivores and later the carnivores were able to diversify and become wide spread.
The Valley would remain undisturbed and the dinosaurs would live a completely separate life, without knowledge of the outside world.
However, while life outside the valley is normal, life inside the valley is not. The ecosystem is horrific as many species were forced into an ecosystem they simply could not survive in and as a result more species were forced into extinction and yet somehow an equilibrium had been found.

Before the age of humanity, Elves and Dwarves dominated the globe. They were thriving across the planet. Several subspecies of Elves and Dwarves existed and each lived in their own environments. However the Jungle Elves of all species had the most encounters will these prehistoric animals.

PRE-DISCOVERY
The Photo - 1986
In recent years, a number of people have come forward claiming to have spotted some unknown giant bird like reptiles. There have been a few sightings from around the globe however the ones in Omai are much more interesting. This is because the descriptions given match with ancient legends of giant reptiles. None of these stories were believed and brushed off as conspiracies and myths until a Elvishnan Civilian managed to capture a picture of one of these strange animals.
Civilian Keryth Olarie was returning home from a walk around 13 minutes before the 11th hour of the day. The man had noticed a rather strange rustling noise towards his left. The man was a nature photographer so he always carried a camera around with him just so, if he could, he could take photos of nature. He walked steadily towards the rustling and heard rather strange snarling sounds. The man paused and pulled out his flashlight just in case. Flashlights tend to scare off wild animals as they fear the sudden brightness in the night. The man peered over some rocks and saw a silhouette of some sort. He could make out a tail and the bright eyes but not much else so he shone his light and was horrified. Before him, stood a giant reptile with twin crests over its head. It stood bipedal and snapped its head back at him. In its jaws were what he assumed was a giant rat of some sort (authorities are still attempting to identified the hunted species). The animal let out a slight hoot and hiss. The man snapped the photo. Just after the image was taken, the bipedal crested animal swallowed its meal whole and continued to stare back at him. The man stared back at the animal as it cocked its head in curiosity. For a period of 2 seconds the two stared at each other until the nearby trees shook, a flock of birds flew away, and the animal ran back into the woods never to be seen again.
The man would later report image to animal control who would soon alert the Wildlife Security Department. The man's belongings were searched toughly to eliminate the possibility of the photo being edited. After the possibility of an edited photo was eliminated. The WSD would send a team of researchers to location to find the location of the animal. After a week and a half of research, the team eventually found the Dilophosaurus and, in order to bring this animal back to labs for research, the animal was tranquilised. Successfully bringing the animal back to a secure contained facility, the creature was examined with several Big Name Palaeontologists being invited to understand confirm the animal (all signing NDAs of course). After confirmation that the animal was in fact a real dinosaur, the WSD would notify the President whom would then order an examination of the jungle. Nothing of the origins of this animal was found however the confirmation that a dinosaur was alive had kept the government on its toes. As of now, the Dilophosaurus is kept in the facility for further research.
The Discovery - 1991
2 civilians had reported to the local authorities had claims of a hidden valley deep within the jungles with dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. The authorities had taken the pair away for questioning. Both of them were put into separate rooms to avoid changing stories however both stories stay consistent. The authorities did not believe them however there was something off about the pair. Both of them seem far too adamant on their story for it to be false. With medical investigation on the pair it is said that their injuries were real and had come from the jungles. The police then alerted the council who then alerted the Wildlife Security Department.
They had sent a representative to the cells where both were housed to get details on their experiences. After 1 and a half hour of questioning the representative had left and the department had soon conducted an investigation of the jungles in search of the valley.
After 3 days of searching, the valley was found. They had sent drones into the valley to see if the claims were true. After 12 minutes of the drone going into the valley it had sent back footage. The footage first shows a herd of, now identified, Parasaurs interacting with one another and then shows an Allosaurus of some kind killing one of the Parasaurs. After skipping forward a bit the footage then shows a Quetzalcoatlus pair. One was guarding a nest, presumed to be theirs, and the other was lying near the nest with its wing covering the eggs. The military, who were doing the investigation, were in awe and shock at the same time.
The reports were sent back to the WSD. This was then sent back to the president. Orders were given to keep the valley hidden from the public at all costs. Within a week hundreds of websites and videos were removed from the internet however along the way another shocking discovery was made. The animals had already spread across the globe. 9 countries were soon confirmed to have at least 1 species of dinosaur roaming about with an unknown reason as to how. Further investigations are currently underway however people involved in this were required to sign NDAs. Local villages where these animals occasionally attacked were either relocated or required to stay silent as well.
