Scope: Thirteenth Assemblage
From Amaranth Legacy, available at amaranth-legacy.community

"We work with what we have"
This content takes place in Thirteenth Assemblage.

This page is to chronicle to major events that take place in Thirteenth Assemblage (see Scope page for details). As a rule, world events before the year 2100 are not to be developed on in much detail, if at all. While historical events such as discoveries of planets (including fictional discoveries through the late 21st Century) are added here, these mostly serve as flavor and scaffolding for the actual developed timeline between the years 2100-2500 AD.

Pre Sol King

1775 AD

1776 AD

  • The Declaration of Independence establishes the United States of America as a sovereign nation.

1782 AD

  • The United States of America formally establishes its government under its new constitutional framework.

1821 AD

  • Mexico gains its independence from Spanish rule.

1862 AD

  • Astronomer Alvan Graham Clark first observes Sirius B—now called Sothis.

1896 AD

  • Astronomer John Martin Schaeberle first observes Procyon B—now called Alpina.

1945 AD

1948 AD

  • Astronomer Wilhelm Jacob Luyten discovers the binary red-dwarf system later known as iSimangaliso, cataloguing it as Luyten 726-8 while compiling his Catalog of Stars with High Proper Motion.
  • The system’s primary component, later named Isankahlu (BL Ceti), is identified as a variable red dwarf.

1950 AD

  • The companion star, later known as Ingqumbo (UV Ceti), is discovered and confirmed to be variable.
  • Because of its extreme flare activity, UV Ceti becomes the prototype for all UV Ceti-type flare stars, establishing a new classification of eruptive red dwarfs.

1959 AD

  • The flag of the United States of America reaches its modern 50-star form, remaining unchanged through subsequent centuries.

2015 AD

  • The IAU's first initiative to give known stars and exoplanets names, "NameExoWorlds 2015", designates Epsilon Eridani as "Ran", and its one known planet at the time as "AEgir".

2024 AD

  • Using the Very Large Telescope’s GRAVITY instrument, astronomers detect a super-Neptune-mass exoplanet orbiting one of the Gliese 65 pair through early astrometry.
  • Follow-up data confirms the planet’s orbit around BL Ceti (Isankahlu) with a 156-day orbital period—the first confirmed planet in the system.

2055 AD

  • Refined astrometry techniques detect two additional smaller planets in the system.
  • Initial analyses mistakenly assign both to UV Ceti (Ingqumbo), but later corrections show that one actually orbits BL Ceti (Isankahlu) alongside the earlier discovery.

2098 AD

  • La Armada de Nuevo Colorado begins construction in secret. Most of the mission is planned on Mars to keep information from prying eyes. It is named for the joint Mexican-American Mars base Nuevo Colorado.
  • Despite the secrecy, UN Peacekeeping Intelligence (UNPI) discovers the plot and elects to join with a craft of their own. The United States and Mexico do not take action immediately.

Post Sol King

2100 AD

  • The United States of America, along with most global powers, faces collapse under the rise of the Sol King.
  • Amazon Corporation, under Jeff Bezos Jr., develops the concept for the Daedalus Drive, a subluminal propulsion system capable of achieving up to 12% of light speed.
    • The Exodus Initiative is launched within Amazon’s scientific division, aiming to create a means of interstellar escape from the deteriorating Sol System.
      • Amazon-State of San Francisco serves as the central hub of research and development for the project.
    • The first operational Daedalus Drive prototype is completed by late 2100 AD.
  • News of the Exodus Initiative leaks to Amazon’s lower staff, sparking mass uprisings and rebellion across corporate territories.
  • Jeff Bezos Jr. is captured by Amazon’s own security forces, who defect to the populist cause.
    • A global citizen tribunal convicts Bezos Jr. of crimes against humanity, national treason, and conspiracy to abandon civilization.
    • Bezos Jr. is executed publicly; flayed, drawn, quartered, and hanged from the Golden Gate Bridge, his body burned for days in a symbol of corporate downfall.
  • The Daedalus Drive’s designs and data are declassified and disseminated across surviving scientific institutions throughout the Sol System.
    • Panic over the rise of the Sol King accelerates mass adoption of the Daedalus Drive across the settled Solar System.
  • The United States reorganizes its federal government, becoming the United States of New America and begins the mass interstellar migration to the Alpha Centauri System.
    • The American Restoration Party and American Communist Party become the dominant political forces of the restructured nation.
  • During the Sol King Exodus, early interstellar survey probes from planet Earth identify iSimangaliso as a potential, though highly volatile, candidate for limited colonization.
  • The first Daedalus powered space shuttles begin to exit the Solar System towards the thirteen nearest star systems to Sol.
  • The Sol King consolidates control over the whole of the Solar System.

2101 AD

  • The United Nations and Nuevo Colorado Mars base declassify their project, based on a Medusa Drive rather than the Daedalus drive.
    • The United States leaves the United Nations and pulls all funding from Mars expeditions—leaving over one hundred citizens on the red planet.
    • Several states not too friendly with the United States government, such as Cuba, Venezuela, and Chile, elect to contribute their own spacecraft to the Nuevo Colorado Fleet. Mexico declares neutrality in the conflict, but ultimately sides with the United States, abandoning the Martian Outpost to the UN. Elements in the Southwestern United States side with the United Nations, in particular the newly-liberated former corporate states such as San Francisco, Denver, and Salt Lake City.
    • The United Nations rapidly sheds members as different countries scramble to build spacecraft or fight against the Sol King.
  • Numerous nuclear reactors begin to be converted to americium production plants. This is the main limiting factor for the medusa drive.

2103 AD

  • The twin ships, Under the Moon and Over the Sky set out for Procyon. These craft were launched by numerous English Commonwealth countries working in tandem, in particular those from Africa, who supplied most of the raw materials.

2106 AD

2110 AD

  • The East Mediterranean Interstellar Program (EMIP) forms in Byblos, Lebanon, uniting smaller national efforts from Lebanon, Greece, Syria, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, and Turkey.
    • The program’s goal is to create an independent interstellar fleet to escape subjugation by larger powers and the looming Sol King’s hegemony.
    • Early designs begin for what will become the fastest implementation of the Daedalus Drive, reverse-engineered from leaked Amazon corporate schematics.

2123 AD

  • The Nuevo Colorado Fleet is completed—six ships are in orbit of the earth, one around the moon, and two in orbit of Deimos. The Martian craft are repurposed colony craft, making them the new backbone of this new goal to colonize another star system.
    • The United Nations, reduced to a handful of Latin American, Pacific, and European Countries, declares this a victory for mankind. The Secretary General, and president of Chile, Lucas Calavides, notably stays behind to fight against the Sol King. He appoints Castile Bravo as the first fleet admiral.
    • The Nuevo Colorado Fleet is the largest of its kind thus far and begins setting out for Proxima Centauri.

2125 AD

  • The Siege of Havana convinces the Nuevo Colorado admirals that Proxima Centauri was far too close to the Earth. With over 99% of their fuel reserves remaining and a great deal of excess fuel for just this eventuality, they decide to match course with the Under the Moon and Over the Sky, both flying toward Procyon.

2135 AD

  • Humanity enters the Alpha Centauri System; marking the species' first extra-solar colony.
    • The United States of America, joined by the United Mexican States, Federative Republic of Brazil, and Argentine Republic, arrives on the planet New America.
      • The four nations disperse across the planet and begin reconstruction of their societies, with the United States establishing its authority over Vesperium.
    • Humanity arrives on Aeros and begins settlement.
      • Early settlements are established due to Aeros’ favorable conditions for human life.

2136 AD

  • The Armada of Nuevo Colorado catches up to the Under the Moon and Over the Sky after abandoning the ANC Puebla and using its warheads to accelerate further.
  • Under threat of nuclear annihilation, which was a key advantage of medusa drives if conflict ever arose, the Under the Moon and Over the Sky were instructed to colonize the Alpina white dwarf rather than the main star of Procyon, Aquilegia.

2148 AD

  • On October 14, the EMIP launches the first fleet toward Sirius, marking the beginning of humanity’s most ambitious independent colonization effort.
    • The fleet consists of 116 ships, each outfitted with life-sustaining modules and cryogenic vaults.
    • Ships achieve 13.6% light-speed, cutting decades off travel time at catastrophic cost to the nations funding the mission.
  • The Sirius Exodus Voyage spans nearly 64 years, connecting cultures from across the Middle East and Mediterranean.
    • Aboard the leading ship, philosopher-astronomer Rashaad Ibn Samir develops the doctrine of Aseirion Pan-Mediterraneanism, a philosophical system uniting the settlers under shared endurance and spiritual syncretism between the various sects of Abrahamic religions that dominate the fleet.
    • Rashaad’s writings, later compiled as “The Seven-eyed Twins,” become scripture for the Aseirion settlers, emphasizing resilience and order necessary to survive the harsh system.
    • Expertise and better equipment amongst the most forward ships of the fleet give some budding hierarchical power to them.

2175 AD

  • The “Gliese 65 / Luyten 762-8” system is officially renamed to “iSimangaliso”, meaning “miracle” or “wonder” in isiZulu, as part of post-Exodus cultural reclassification.
    • Alternate native designations — iSipho (“gift”) and kwaLasha (“hell”) — are also recorded in early settlement archives.

2176 AD

  • Several small probes, racing ahead of the main fleet, reach the Procyon System. The Armada de Nuevo Colorado conducts the first survey of the Aquilegia (Procyon A) system, marking Timberline's initial visitation.
    • Debates arise within the fleet regarding which of Aspen’s moons should serve as the system’s capital.
    • Timberline, the largest moon, is chosen for its thick nitrogen atmosphere and natural radiation protection from Aquilegia’s high luminosity.
    • Rival candidate Cottonwood is rejected despite its lower radiation levels, due to its lack of atmosphere.
    • Alpina is not very thoroughly searched.

2183 AD

  • The Halcón disobeys the admiralty and joins Under the Moon and Over the Sky in their colonization of Alpina. This is considered an act of rebellion.
  • After sixty years in transit, the Halcón arrives at Salida, a tidally locked, basalt-crusted world orbiting Alpina (Procyon B).
    • The ship’s americium-sail drive is expended; the surviving crew enters orbit with critically low reserves.
    • Initial surveys identify a vast northern plain later named Mare Navidad, lying within the Poinsettia Basin.
    • Base construction begins in the nearby crater Sinfondo, chosen for its constant rim-light and natural radiation shielding.

2184 AD

  • Small landing detachments from the Halcón establish the first surface colony on Salida atop Mare Navidad’s basalt flats.
    • The outpost functions as a mining/survey station, tasked with locating thorium and actinide deposits for reactor reactivation.
    • The settlement of Límite forms to the south, becoming Salida’s logistical hub and largest human concentration in the system.
    • Mare Navidad officially enters Assemblage records as a “Peripheral Exodus Colony.”
    • The ANC Under the Moon and ANC Over the Sky are instructed to wait in orbit until the Halcón establishes a permanent base. The Halcón has two nuclear bombs left, enough to get them to Procyon in three decades if things go wrong. This is kept secret.
  • The main body of La Armada de Nuevo Colorado arrives around Aquilegia—formerly Procyon A. The admiral refuses to send aid to the ships around Alpina.

2185 AD

  • Repeated rover expeditions, led by Isma, Ivan, and Calixto, search Mare Navidad’s surface for fissionable resources.
    • Instead of thorium, teams uncover layers of unstable radio-isotopes (neptunium, plutonium, americium, curium), relics of Procyon B’s nova history.
    • An incident in a minor crater causes the first fatal depressurization when a fight between miners ruptures a suit; Captain Salazar imposes martial discipline over all Mare Navidad operations.
    • Captain Salazar and Overseer Tremblay impose stricter operational discipline following the confrontation.

2186 AD

  • A gram-scale thorium deposit is located near Mare Navidad’s southern rim.
    • Plans form to refine and launch the material to the Halcón’s orbiting core to restart its ultra-low-power reactor.
    • Rumors circulate of a “relativistic fleet” allegedly en route under the Sol King’s command; Mare Navidad’s leadership dismisses the claim as Admiral propaganda.

2187 AD

  • Younger colonists at Mare Navidad question continued resistance and consider surrendering to the Admiral for repatriation.
  • Captain Salazar bans any discussion of capitulation; several suspected sympathizers vanish into the outer basalt fields.
  • Life-support rationing and reactor scarcity reduce population activity to a few hundred inhabitants, sustained by crater-rim photovoltaics and recycled oxygen.
  • The ANC Over the Sky disobeys the Halcón and sends a shuttle to the surface of Salida. Their gamble paid off and the Halcón was not willing to use their last warheads to stop them. The ANC Under the Moon follows suit. The two craft shed ANC from their names and declare independence.
    • A new rival colony, the Kingdom of New Lagos, claims direct descent from the House of Stuart in England and declare themselves the successors to both the English Crown and the Holy See.
    • The Church of Magog declares itself the state religion of New Lagos and vows to wage eternal war against the Sol King, who they view as a false coming of Christ. Quoting Daniel, they believe that the Sol King is going to conquer the Thirteenth Assemblage and they must fight as God's only saints.
    • They opt not to aid the colonists from the Halcón.
  • Late this year, Castile Bravo dies, leaving the Admiralty to his son, Cecil Bravo.
    • His first act is to recognize the independence of Alpina and send aid, in the form of Thorium fuel. He sent it with a simple transmission, "Feliz Navidad," since the aid would arrive on Christmas Eve that year.
    • The colonists of Alpina name the place where the aid lands "Mare Navidad."

2193 AD

  • Mare Navidad endures as a Frontier-Class Outpost of the Thirteenth Assemblage, administratively tied to the Salida Prospector Authority.
  • The Halcón remains in low orbit, inert yet intact, awaiting reactivation.

2203 AD

  • The Pan-Nordic breakaway fleet arrives at Rán, taking initial refuge on the Titan-like moon Hrönn after initial scans turn up no Earthlike bodies.
  • The system's named bodies (Ran and AEgir) are renamed to be closer to their original mythological equivalents (Rán and Ægir), adding Fárbauti and Þjazi for the outer gas dwarfs.
    • Ægir's moons are decided as neutral allied land, and named after the daughters of Ægir and Rán.

2212 AD

  • On October 4, the EMIP fleet arrives in the Sirius System, entering orbit around Al Shira and Sothis.
    • Initial scans reveal no fully habitable planets, only barren worlds: boiling deserts, corrosive skies, and frozen moons.
    • Half of the ships dismantle to construct the first Heliakrion, a conical orbital megastructure designed by Greek futurist Lemnache Halaphios—named Oseiros after the Greek word for “scorching.”
    • The Aseirion settlers establish their first lunar base on Harsiess, Rashaya’s outer moon, followed by expansion into Heruer, Aramoun, and Faraya.

2220 AD

  • The initial governance of Greater Byblos is established, with the Blue Pharaoh as a spiritual unifier instated by the philosopher Rashaad Ibn Samir.
  • The Aseirion Guild Race occurs, with the Faleyt Construction Guild and the Lahiyat Aldhahab Mining Guild emerging as the prime organizations.

2242 AD

  • The first close approach of Sothis to Al Shira creates a perfect jumping-off point from the moons of Rashaya. Aseirion populations move to colonize the bodies around the white dwarf.

2235 AD

  • Mexico is formally admitted into the Union as a “Coequal and Long-Awaited Composite Nation.”
    • The decision ignites political division and ultimately leads to civil conflict.

2250 AD

  • Escalating tensions within the United States of America following the admittance of Mexico into the Union culminate in the Constitutional War, a devastating civil conflict.
    • The secessionist True American Republic is formed, claiming parts of South Vesperium, the largest island on planet New America.
      • The United States of America ultimately loses control over the planet’s largest island but maintains the federal government’s continuity.
  • Greater Byblos is rearranged through bribe deals, religious propaganda, and the post-mortem absence of Rashaad Ibn Samir's moderation into a thinly veiled pharaoate.
  • Rashaad Ibn Samir’s council of technocrats is undermined and stealthily converted into a technocratic-religious state, with the Pharaoh acting as both symbolic monarch and executive ruler.

2270 AD

  • Neo-Pharaonic Greater Byblos permits human genetic engineering for the purpose of surviving Al Shira's harsh ultraviolet radiation. The Aseirion human variant is created, distinguished by their dark facial spotting and stronger blue undertones.

2300 AD

  • The Faleyt Construction Guild and Lahiyat Aldhahab Mining Guild consolidate total industrial control over the Heliakria and mining worlds.
  • The first waves of genetic adaptation among humans appear as the Aseirion human subspecies reaches a viable continuous population.

2315 AD

  • The colonies around Procyon unite under the Estados Isocráticos de Proción, also called the Isocratic States of Procyon, forming a shared governance across both stellar components of the binary.
    • The twin cultural centers—Timberline (Aspen) under Aquilegia and Salida (Alpina) under the white dwarf—develop distinct identities:
      • Timberline becomes the administrative and population core.
      • Salida serves as the remote industrial and scientific hub studying Alpina’s emissions.

2320 AD

  • The Guilds’ power solidifies in Sirius, establishing formal paramilitary dominion over Hadath, Batroun, and Sur, where forced labor contracts dominate the economy.
    • The Faleyt Guild gifts the Lahiyat Aldhahab Guild its headquarters on Kakrik (Batroun’s moon), a gesture of unity that begins a long-standing industrial alliance.
  • The Isocratic States of Proción establish Timberline as the permanent administrative and industrial capital of the Procyon System.
    • Construction begins on massive subterranean and subarctic city complexes such as Whitesky, Royal Gorge, and Pike City.
    • Timberline becomes the core of the “One World, Many Planets” governance model, centralizing decision-making for all twelve states of the Isocracy.
    • The Admiralty of Aspen relocates its full command structure to Whitesky from orbit. For years, the Admiralty had been losing power to the national government, and this all but solidifies civilian rule in the system.

2340 AD

  • An outbound exploration vessel traveling from the Alpha Centauri System toward Barnard’s Star detects an unknown icy body at close range — later named Phoenix Φοῖνιξ.
    • The encounter occurs with less than three seconds of clearance from impact, recorded at a distance of 999,550,311 kilometers from its surface.
    • The crew initially believes the object to be a rogue planet, but subsequent readings confirm it to be in a bound orbit around Alpha Centauri B.
    • Orbital analysis determines an extraordinary orbital period of 767,000 Earth years, making it the most distant known object gravitationally bound to the Centauri system.
    • Brief observations reveal an icy surface resembling Europa, riddled with dark fracture lines, indicating possible tectonic or cryovolcanic activity.
    • The encounter data suggests the presence of a subsurface ocean, sustained by internal heat despite the planet’s distance from its star.

2400 AD

  • The Centauric Wars erupt between the United States of America and the Collective Republics of Tanah Baru; although its reasons are hotly contested.
    • The conflicts spread across the Alpha Centauri System, marking the bloodiest moment in history since the rise of the Sol King.
  • By 2400 AD, the United Peoples of the Gift (iziZwe eZihlangene zeSimangaliso) consolidates control over the system.
    • The nation's population reaches 978 million, concentrated around Molelo and its moon Isiseko, capital of the Isankahlu planetary subsystem.
    • Continuous mining and industrial operations develop in the Idwala and Udaka Belts, despite hazardous stellar flares from Ingqumbo.
  • Phoenix’s orbital trajectory is lost due to limited data and its negligible movement across background stars.
    • By the early 2400s, astronomers debate whether Phoenix ever truly existed, some labeling it a sensor anomaly or transient interstellar body.
    • The lack of follow-up missions and the slow drift of Centauri’s observational network allow Phoenix to fade into myth among deep-space surveyors.
  • Sirius becomes a heavily stratified bureaucratic autocracy, divided between the glittering orbital Heliakria and the bleak surface worlds.
  • The Blue Pharaoh’s influence extends into every council chamber; decrees once proposed by scientists now require royal assent.
    • Dissident factions found rogue Heliakria and independent colonies on moons like Faraya and Aramoun, forming the Free Protectorate of Sekhmet’s Blood and the New Aeolia state.
    • Harsiess rises as the most populated celestial body, housing over 50 million inhabitants, followed by Heruer with 22 million, becoming the core of planetside Aseirion civilization.
    • Periodic uprisings occur across the mining worlds and orbital habitats, each crushed by NPGB forces in the name of “preserving divine order.”

2410 AD

  • Rapid urban expansion fuels the growth of industrial and agricultural output, making Timberline the largest population center in the entire Procyon System.
    • Its population surpasses 500 million, with over 10,000 artificial satellites supporting communications, orbital defense, and energy relay.
    • Earth-derived crops and livestock are genetically adapted for the moon’s low gravity and near-freezing climate, transforming Timberline into the breadbasket of Aquilegia.
    • The planet’s economy flourishes, exporting spacecraft, vehicles, consumer goods, and industrial equipment to the rest of the system.

2448 AD

  • Much to the astonishment of local scientists, extremophiles from the Earth had already adapted to Timberline's conditions. They are found in the seasonal ponds that grow ever more common as out-gassing from domes increases the water vapor content of the already fairly moist world.

2455 AD

  • Heliakrion Arazzim uncovers the beginnings of a new group of mysticist dissenters in its Dusk District.
    • The group is noted as using psychoactive substances to destabilize mobile law enforcers.

2476 AD

  • Nyctosphoros, a sect of chemical terrorists with the stated goal to turn the Aseirion military efforts towards conquering Sol, force control over several Heliakria.

2480 AD

  • During a wide-field deep-field scan of Alpha Centauri’s outer system, the Phoenix Object is rediscovered.
    • The survey confirms its position and orbit via infrared and gravimetric detection arrays, proving it to be gravitationally bound to Alpha Centauri B.
    • Rediscovery data supports the rogue capture theory, placing Phoenix’s formation outside the Centauri system less than one billion years ago.
    • Despite renewed scientific interest, no direct missions have been sent to re-examine Phoenix due to its extreme isolation and low energy accessibility.

2490 AD

  • Timberline experiences cultural consolidation among descendants of the Southwestern United States, Latin America, Pacific Islands, and Europe. Their linguistic blending produces the Solar-English/Spanish Creole now dominant across the population.
  • The most common religion becomes the Church of Magog, but its teachings are far less extreme than they were in the past. Even so, they claim to be the only rightful successors of the Catholic Church.

2495 AD

  • During the approach of Sirius B (the Pup Star), predicted Sothiat insurgencies and Pharaoate instability ignite across the Sirius system.

2500 AD

  • CURRENT YEAR
  • The United States of America remains active as the oldest surviving human republic and one of the last pre-Exodus nations still functioning.
    • The nation stands as the head of the Centauri Eminence, founded after the Centauric Wars.
    • The nation also retains hegemony over New America’s continent of Vesperium despite ongoing rivalries and wars.
  • Sothis distances itself from Al Shira along its orbit, signaling a downturn in intra-system violence and the end of the regular insurgent periods.
    • Separatist movements among the Sothiat resurge, invoking Rashaad Ibn Samir as a Phonecianist false leader and preparing for total military occupation come next stellar summer.
