United Elemental Republic

Overview

The United Elemental Republic (UER), also known as the United Republic, or Elementia is a large and heavily influential nation located primarily on the North Upotima continent. It is a Federal Republic of 40 states and a Federal district which acts as the country's capital, Republica. Its 37 contiguous states border the Satonlious Federation to the north and the Umera Republic to the south, with the exclave of Alka to the northwest bordering the Northern States of The League, the archipelago of Ku'alo in the Tazania Ocean, and the island of Jalain in the Orma Ocean. The United Republic also asserts sovereignty over twelve major islands and archipelagos in the Orma, Tazania, Methua, and Helmen Oceans. It is the 4th most populated country, with a population of more than 504 Million. It is the 5th largest nation on the planet at 3.92 million square miles (beating the Oceanian Federation by about 6,000 squared miles) behind the Koris Kingdom, the Khan Empire, the Republic of Sideria, and the Federated Argoni States.

History

Pre-Guardian Era

The land in which the UER would encompass would first be inhabited by Native Upotimans somewhere from 25,000-20,000 PGE. The Ancient Elementian Empire would rise somewhere from 1600-1630 PGE on Ormalia, and would begin expanding on the neighboring continents. However, they would only attempt to establish territory on the Upotimas a few times, and from archaeological and textual accounts, each of these attempts would end in failure. The reason for why the Elementians never attempted a full fledged invasion of the continents is unknown and still up for speculation, however, a popular theory states that due to the high concentration of neutral-based materials on the eastern coasts of the continent, the Elementian elemental based technology was hampered, deterring any full fledged invasion. Eventually, with the fall of the Elementian Empire and sinking of Ormalia, almost all accounts mentioning the Upotimas was lost to the ocean.

New Guardian Era

For the rest history until 1297 NGE, the natives of the continents would live isolated from the rest of the world. However, the Ckaveratti explorer and merchant, Pedro Nuñez would land on South Upotima in 1297 NGE, trying to find a passage to Oceania and the Chasutōie continent amidst the Cance-Ozan blockade, would land in what is now modern day Raxolia. Knowledge and interest of this new 'world' wouldn't spread rapidly until 1342 NGE when large deposits of gold and silver were found in South Upotima. From 1350-1570 NGE, Ckaveratt and Koris would colonize all of South Upotima. During this time, Korin Expeditionary units would cross the Strait of Vaguẽz and enter North Upotima.

Argoni Colonization

The nations of the Argonia Continent hadn't had an interest in the New World, dealing with internal problems. However, the Hishimalts established a lucrative trade in North Upotima with the natives, selling exotic materials to the rest of the world. Not wanting their rival to gain an advantage over them, Helka would approach Dharrakash with the Argonia Economic Agreements in 1582 NGE. Under these agreements, the 5 major powers of Argonia would work together to establish a presence in the New World to counter Hishimal. This would lay the foundation for the unification of the continent into the Argoni Empire in 1677 NGE.

The Argoni would begin sending groups of colonists to the east coast of North Upotima to establish outposts meant to harass Hishimalt merchant ships. Eventually, policies in the now-united Argoni Empire would lead to rampant homelessness across the nation. To alleviate these problems, the Argoni Chancellor, Tarus IV, would give out Imperial charters to Argoni companies to establish living spaces, plantations, and mines for the Argoni people on North Upotima. The companies hoped to use indentured servants to generate revenue on large plantations and mines. Eventually, 17 Argoni chartered territories would be established in North Upotima by 1759 NGE. The territories would later be absorbed into the Imperial Argoni Colonial Administration due to multiple companies going bankrupt. The territories would be turned into colonies and placed under Imperial administration.

Elementian War of Independence

On Julurn 3rd, 1774, after numerous infringements on the rights of the colonists, the 17 colonies would form the Continental Union and declare independence from the Argoni Empire. From Julurn 1774, to Macherth 1789 NGE, the Continental Union, forming into the United Elemental Republic, would fight against Imperial Argoni forces until the end of the war.

Government Deliberation

After the end of the war with the signing of the Treaty of Leux, the Elementian government would begin enacting plans for the new nation. The first major act came in the form of the Madilon Plan in 1791 NGE, a major restructuring of the Continental Government. The plan reorganized the Continental Government into the Federal Government, as well as dismantling the Unity Articles, replacing them with the Constitution of The United Republic. Under the Madilon Plan, the Federal Government would be granted significantly more power. It had the power to impose direct taxes on citizens, print and require states to accept and solely use the Elementian Dollar, establish a national bank, and was to become the supreme governmental body of the nation.
