Timeline: Archaistic Eras

Timeline: Archaistic Eras

The Archaistic Era marks the earliest and most enigmatic period in the history of Haven, with records so ancient as to border on myth. Dates are counted in reverse, from the supposed "First Year" of mortal reckoning, stretching deep into prehistory. Events of the Archaistic Era are ordered by tradition and surviving relic, not by any unified calendar. The earliest established period is the Age of Founding, when the first mighty powers and transformations of Haven took root.

Age of Founding (Circa 13,000 AE – 10,000 AE)

Arrival of the Cerotellians on Haven; they establish vast subterranean dominions beneath the planet’s surface, becoming the foremost power within the Gleaming Abyss through unmatched technological advancement.

Several isolated Edian tribes and societies retreat from the main Edian Empire, seeking existence within the wilds of the world, separate from their kin.

  • These tribes collectively adopt the Divine of the forest and animals, Galaphon, as their chief deity, establishing tribal settlements around ancient Beast Totems erected by her followers.
  • Using alteration magics on the Totems, the tribes undergo physical transformation into a more bestial form, permanently altering their bloodlines; the descendants of these transformed Edia become later the first Buugresi, known as the "Changed-Ones."

Mid Archaistic Era

  • The Cerotellian Empire reaches its zenith beneath Haven, maintaining isolation while avoiding open conflict with surface empires such as the Edia due to limited magical capabilities.
  • During the Edian-Dragon War, the Cerotellians ally with the Edian Empire. "Chimera" develops and unleashes the Curse of Mortality, eradicating the Alcadrago and disrupting all immortal life on Haven.
  • The Curse of Mortality slowly destabilizes Cerotellian society. Immortal leadership perishes, resulting in societal collapse, loss of knowledge, and emerging internal strife.
  • Factionalism spreads within the Cerotellian Empire. Some attempt forbidden integrations of flesh and machine, others retreat deeper into the Abyss. Gradual decline of the Cerotellian presence begins.

Late Archaistic Era

  • The Cerotellian Empire falls into obscurity. Their influence becomes mythologized, their ruins scattered and inactive across Southwestern and Northern Bariquel. Successor races adopt fragments of their identity and technology.

1 YM

  • Reliable recorded history begins.
  • The first recorded millennial Mavishift occurs across the Mavimyst; the Penumbral Scales of the Mavimyst reset themselves.
    • The Realm of Apotheosis begins merging with Haven following the Mavishift, an event known as the "Red Moon".
    • Daevolin entities invade Haven as the two realms begin to spatially converge.
    • The collective mortal peoples are largely unable to defend themselves against the Daevolin, resulting in widespread death and devastation.
    • Amaranth Heir Harmony Feyvarla begins defending Haven against the forces of Apotheosis.
    • Harmony Feyvarla unleashes an Amaranth Contravene from within herself, ending the Red Moon event.
    • Utilizing Remnant swaths of Alizarin left across the world following the Curse of Mortality, Harmony Feyvarla creates the Rings of Harmony.
  • The Rings of Harmony, composed of pure Alizarin, encircle Haven and serve as a protective barrier, warding off the encroaching Apotheosis.
    • The Rings prevent any external plane or realm from directly subsuming Haven and bar entities from these realms from manifesting on Haven without internal assistance, due to Alizarin's innate ability to repel immortal forces.
    • Harmony Feyvarla subsequently extinguishes from the immense exertion of this event.
    • Following the creation of the Rings of Harmony, global mortal lifespans extend by more than five times their previous lengths.
    • Surviving Daevolin are driven into hiding or forced to integrate into mortal societies.
  • The Kingdom of Gladehaven is established in southwestern Bariquel.
    • Fyltell AvLee crowns himself as the first Green Lord of Gladehaven.
  • The Magistrate of Vaviland is established in the Vaudevillian Isles of northeastern Rahmiel.
    • Virari Goldfeather crowns herself as the first Majesty of Vaviland.

520 YM

  • "Ellanti", a singular malformed Xalanti individual with innate Hemomantic Abilities, is born in the Western True Abyss.
    • It is born with the Hemomantic Ability to split its Remnant Spirit infinitely, creating multiple entities.

521 YM

  • Rejected by fellow Xalanti due to its malformed appearance and misunderstood powers, Ellanti is cast out into the Abyss. It wanders alone before reaching the Cavern of Theosis.
  • Ellanti attracts the attention of Brother Surutis, a powerful yet overshadowed Epimelius ruler of Theosis.
    • Over time, Surutis gains Ellanti’s trust and discovers its immense Hemomantic powers.
    • Surutis manipulates Ellanti into believing its life is threatened by Surutis' sisters. Ellanti aids Surutis by fragmenting itself into numerous entities to defeat the other Epimelius rulers through coordinated psionic assaults.

522 YM

  • Surutis and Ellanti successfully overthrow Surutis' sisters. Surutis crowns himself the Harvest Lord, establishing absolute rule over Theosis. Ellanti becomes integral to maintaining his control.
  • Surutis orders Ellanti to fragment repeatedly, creating thousands of entities to surveil and enforce his rule. Ellanti's consciousness fragments into a network, losing individual identity, ultimately becoming the race of the "Harvest Watchers," extensions of Surutis' dominion.
    • The Harvest Watchers from then on serve as omnipresent spies and enforcers, using their psionic and Hemomantic powers to instill fear, ensure compliance, and crush dissent throughout Surutis’ kingdom.
