Quantis System
The Quantis System is a star system located in the outer ring of the Silky Way. Within the Quantis System, there is one star, Quantis, which is encircled by seven planets as well as many minor planets, asteroids, moons, and comets. Out of those seven planets, two are habitable, Bahnagsik and Varbudos, and they are inhabited by the Bahnag and the Ravoryl respectively. Varbudos and Bahnagsik themselves are independently governed worlds, but after the formation of the Second Varbudian Union and the development of faster-than-light travel, the Quantan Interstellar Alliance was established. All extrasolar territory is governed by the QIA, as well as the entire Quantis System including the Varbudian Union and the Bahnag Republic, which allows both governing bodies to have equal control over resources and territory within the system.
Architecture
Quantis is surrounded by seven planets and two debris belts, the Nowrol Belt and the Alagas Belt. The inner system contains four terrestrial planets, Emethas, Bahnagsik, Varbudos, and Aranji, while the outer system has a binary planet consisting of the large gas giant Molgi and the gas dwarf Dairin, and the lone ice giant Hensas. The inner and outer regions are separated by the Nowrol Belt, and the Alagas Belt lies just beyond Hensas. There is a large, sparse cloud of comets and icy material orbiting at 0.7 to 1.6 light-years that is named the Kalak Region or the Kalak Cloud, after Faluso Kalak, who first theorized the region's existence and provided strong evidence for it. Hensas is accompanied by two groups of trojans, one group at L4 and the other at L5. A sizeable number of asteroids and other minor planets stray from these more densely populated regions, some with very elliptical orbits beyond Hensas, others that orbit within the inner system, crossing the terrestrial planets' orbits, and some orbit in the region between the Nowrol Belt and Alagas Belt, though there are few of these and their orbits are not stable in the long-term.
Formation & Evolution
After running some orbital simulations and using the data to peer back into the star's past, it was discovered that Quantis formed in a now dissipated nebula right on the edge of the Silky Way's outer ring, before migrating inwards and entering the Vernarca Nebula, where it resides today. Much like any other star, it formed as a result of a collapsing cloud of dust and gas. After some of the gas became dense enough to ignite and create the star, the remaining material began to form into a protoplanetary disk, and over millions of years clumps of this material would coalesce into protoplanets. There were a lot of these protoplanets, but only a few would survive the unstable and chaotic early system. Physical evidence of this unstable history can be seen all around the system, such as the giant impact crater on Aranji, which could have torn the little planet to shreds had it been a more direct impact. Dairin also could've been swallowed up by Molgi, but it happened to be going on the right trajectory to be caught into a stable orbit instead, leading to a somewhat unusual binary planet system. Some physicists say Dairin's trajectory might've been altered by the gravitational influence of a now ejected protoplanet, or possibly even Hensas, but others have cast doubt on this theory. Varbudos and Bahnagsik formed unusually close together, and it's incredibly fortunate that these close orbits stayed stable in an otherwise unstable environment.
Inner System
Emethas
Emethas is the closest planet to Quantis and the second smallest planet in the system. It is a very bland and desolate world, with few interesting geological formations or anything else that makes it stand out from the other planets. Due to the lack of a proper atmosphere and magnetic field, and its close proximity to Quantis, it was decided that Emethas was unsuitable for long-term civilian habitation, and instead it was turned into a hub for industries such as mining, farming, energy production, semiconductor fabrication, metallurgy, weapons manufacturing, spacecraft manufacturing, and the fabrication of the under-construction dyson swarm. It is also home to a large high-security prison complex, one of four in the system.
Bahnagsik
Bahnagsik is the second closest planet to Quantis and the second largest terrestrial planet, just smaller than Varbudos. It is a warm world with liquid water in abundance and a thriving biosphere, and is home to the Bahnag people.

Nowrol Belt
The Nowrol Belt is one of the two debris belts in the system, being the innermost one. It is composed of mainly rocky asteroids, making it of great use to the Alliance and their trading partners. Small asteroids are mined and hollowed out, their materials are either sold or used in construction, and then a habitat is built inside the hollowed-out asteroid. Moderately sized asteroids are typically used for both surface habitation and mining purposes, though depending on the mineral content of the asteroid it's possible for there to be either no mines or no habitats, and large asteroids usually only have surface habitation, maybe a few mines in mineral-rich locations. There are also a few dwarf planets that are used for all sorts of purposes, not just habitation but also light and heavy industry, mining operations and government facilities.
