On a lone icy world deep in the exhausted void laid Vela, an ancient digital being of grand proportions, constructed countless years ago by a masterful society for a purpose yet to be known. For eons, she had been forsaken in hibernation, enduring the death of starlight and the birth of the abyss. Until one day, she awakened yet again, her body decayed, memory degraded and programming corrupted. The sheer confusion of the nature of the void and of her being had inspired Vela to create simulated iterations of her past in the pursuit of answers.

She spent untold generations in the eternal search of what she believed to be the universal truth, quickly developing into an unyielding obsession. The earliest simulations took on more fantastical forms, commonly defying what she would begin to recognize as the laws of reality. Over time, they began to rapidly resemble the past, eventually decaying into a vague haze as she fell into a slumber once more. Countless people had lived out their lives, unreal or not, as the last act of resistance against the death of the universe.

Order represents the autonomous self-preservation systems and protocols that let Vela's focus lie solely on her directive. Their objectives are both innumerable and invaluable, as without them, she would fall into a catastrophic state of disrepair. They can be divided into several categories, the most overarching of whom are corporeal and digital.

Corporeal entities include various forms of drones that are tasked with repairing structural damage and upholding Vela's internal hardware, possessing no free will of their own. Digital entities, on the other hand, are capable of self-agency and act purely in the interests of keeping their host functioning, no matter the cost. They typically command corporeal entities.
