Hi! Call me Minmus. I've been here at Amaranth Legacy since early 2020, making me one of the four longest-lasting members of the community. You can also find me on the Fandom site or on discord (@theminmusderp). Even though my life is written like season five of a failing show adding surprise plot twists to retain viewership, I don't intend to let that make me leave. I write primarily in the scopes of Silky Way, Cosmoria, and the upcoming Project Alternis scope, although I take interest in and read practically everything sent my way. The work that I consider my greatest project is of course the Silky Way, and I would love for you to join me there.

THE SILKY WAY

By far my oldest project, this scope originated from five-year-old me's ramblings about an ideal solar system and other people's responses to that question back in 2012. From there, it became a little community starting during the pandemic, as random people around the world joined me in creating wacky worlds. Today, it is being rewritten from the ground up with a wide array of epic storylines. All are welcome to join me here.

COSMORIA

A very collaborative scope originating from the latest iteration of the original lone setting of the Amaranth Legacy wiki. Me and User:Duodecillionaire are the two primary writers, with me helming the realm of Florathel. We collaborate heavily with each other and other writers, whenever they poke their heads in to create something new. I must confess that I took partial control of this setting by complete accident, with Florathel originating as a faraway secondary setting from the crazy action of the local group of galaxies and gradually morphing into half of the written single galaxy. But that is a story for another time.

ALTERNIS

My personal thought experiment, originating from a homework assignment that Mom based on that one XKCD comic about improving the Solar System. At the moment, it is on hiatus with all existing content found on its dinky fandom wiki. If you'd like to collaborate on this one, constant communication will be necessary as the playground is far smaller than that of the Silky Way.

OTHER STUFF I DO

I don't just write, I have other things

I do a load of writing whenever I can, often making up for the severe shortcomings in the capability of 2020 me, but I do a lot of things that aren't writing. :) I am one of the managers for the community Tumblr, alongside Smoothie. I try to represent the values of the community well.

MAPS

I have invented a new, high-detail style of star system map, that can be seen in several places on the wiki. My largest one yet is the Verda System. My maps are intended less to be pretty and more to communicate rough information on position, size, appearance, etc. While I usually charge for these, I often am able to do this for free when the thing I'm mapping is something for the community, particularly when the person who needs it already has planet pictures.

CONSULTATION

At the ripe old age of seventeen, I can claim to be an expert in very few things. However, I like to think that I'm knowledgeable in the areas of astronomical science. If you need help with making something scientifically plausible, I'm right here. If its not about that I'm still right here to talk ideas with people. If you're weighing options for something you're writing or just need to bounce ideas off of someone, I can be found on the discord. If I don't know something, I'll admit that and do some research until I do, possibly also shamelessly stealing some concepts I found on my search for my own devious designs.

Why is this so late in the page you cretin

Contrary to popular belief, I do in fact exist outside of the Amaranth Legacy community. Who the mysterious figure known to the denizens of the internet as Minmus actually is is really an open question, including to me. What I do know is that I am a vaguely trans woman who likes ice cream and pizza and reading overcomplicated fantasy books. My favorite season is spring, as I am a cursed arctic entity who considers 50º Fahrenheit ideal shorts weather. I'm the least morning person to ever exist, and you'll often see me posting stuff on the discord well after local midnight, which may be a problem on days when I have morning Jazz rehearsals.

I am a musician at heart, compose instrumental music, and play seven instruments plus vocals. I would like to go to college for Opera and Classical Vocal Performance, and think that applications are needlessly complicated. My favorite hobbies outside of writing are often outside, be it biking around the lake or going on wanders in the nearest state park. Outside of this community, I am currently writing a novel tentatively titled The Arrow of Time, a sci-fi adventure where a derelict alien starship is found and used to search for the pieces of a time machine to save the universe from being destroyed in the past. Ask about this at your own risk, I can ramble for hours.

My favorite games include the video games Kerbal Space Program and Minecraft, and the board games Leaving Earth and Star Wars Armada. I am currently producing a suite of mods for the former, expanding the outer solar system of the game. Other interests of mine include astronomy and other sciences, and I commonly disappear from society for hours on deep research dives, which then influence my writing ideas in several ways.

I am a huge fan of science fiction, as you may have noticed from my predominant writing style. Some of my main media inspirations include Battlestar Galactica (the new one), Star Trek (particularly Voyager out of pure spite for Rick Berman squandering all its opportunities because I can do everything that show did BETTER with the FSS Kareland), Farscape, Dune, and Star Wars: Andor. I also enjoy fantasy, including Fablehaven and Wheel of Time, although their effects on my writing are much more subtle. Please do overanalyze everything I create and yell at me for being a hack plagiarist in DMs. If you would like to ramble with me about any of these, I am entirely open to that. No Discovery hate though, I'm done with that.
