Ventemir

The second largest nebula within the galaxy Aylathiya, Ventemir represents one of the cradles of civilization within it. Located near the center of Martial Space, Ventemir has proved to be one of the most important nebulae to the history of Aylathiya. Dozens of major civilizations can trace their roots back to it.

Containing over one billion stars within its clouds, Ventemir dwarfs even many proper galaxies within Cosmoria. Ventemir has a diameter of about 13,100 light years and has a total mass of 9 billion M_☉. Ventemir is currently dominated by three nations, the Entente of Ventemir, Tenshi and the Greater Martial Consilium. Tensions between Tenshi and the other two nations have created a sort of demilitarized zone on their border, dividing the body in three.

Ventemir is primarily populated by Atlins, then Humans, and Orcubor with a small minority of Vexlores and Naidarans making up most of the rest. Most of Ventemir's 40 quintillion inhabitants mostly live in three megastructures named Gira Gira, Odo, and Hanabi near to its core. The rest of the population lives on various worlds scattered throughout the region, mostly species' home worlds.

Modern Ventemir can trace its origins to the ancient Triumvirate Civilization, a once galaxy-spanning superpower not only controlling all of Ventemir, but also having sovereignty over much of Aylathiya. When this powerful civilization collapsed into dozens of warring states, Ventemir remained somewhat united until 1,009 CE when it too collapsed. Ever since then, the region has been a patchwork of small states only possible to unite under the "Entente System," what is essentially constitutional aristocratic confederacy. Throughout this nebula there are tens of thousands of organizations, noble families, and even corporations making up this Entente System.

Physical

The border between Ventemir and the rest of Aylathiya are very blurry. Surrounding what is considered to be "Ventemir Proper" is about five hundred million stars in a large halo around the nebula. Stars are usually considered to be within Ventemir when they are within about 6.5 kilo-light-years of its core, the quasi-star Gira Gira. Most of the mass of Ventemir lies in dark matter.
