With their utterly massive Alcubierre Drives and megastructural size, they are truly an oddity in the cosmic realm. Originally built by the Alliance of Five as a way to gather more resources, the Warp Generation ship has become more or less famous in the Borealis Cluster. On only a few occasions, these have been shown to the general public, by the Alliance of Five as a show of force.
Warp Generation ships have massive upkeep, as a result of the millions of refrigerated stasis pods. The housing for POLIKY, the Alliance's AI, is also very expensive. Combine this with the self-improving technology that it has, and it is clear why about 50 have been created. The cost of strategically moving end-points of Cluster Portals as to not disturb equipment is also very high. This and other necessities make Warp Generation Ships a marvel.
The sheer cost of construction of these ships also make their construction prolonged. Any malfunctions and repairs on the ship are also costly, and leave them particularly vulnerable to outside threats. Warp Generation Ships also have minimal weapons systems, making them hard to defend. This results in the remaining Warp Generation Ships being heavily escorted by smaller ships. Otherwise, they would have to have their own defenses, which would simply be to costly. Their vulnerability has also been tough when hostile entities, like The Supreme, are able to destroy these with relative ease. This has made all available Generation ships to stop Cluster Portal production, and flee to protection.
