The World of Glass is a shared psychospiritual phenomenon that has manifested in several people across history. The majority of people with World of Glass are still alive as of the present day, though multiple individuals born centuries or millennia ago with World of Glass have been identified. It is technically unknown to any institution within the universe, but laid out herein is the truth as it is known to the Silent Song, beyond the research or efforts of any of the few involved with it. As an advanced sort of soulwhisper, however, the World of Glass is made up of a pattern of information that is infused into the minds of its ensnared victims from their birth onward.

Those who are afflicted by the World of Glass are sometimes called Glasslings or Shards, though this carries a diminutive connotation. Once more, this is almost exclusively between Glasslings themselves, as very few people know of the World of Glass. For the purposes of a concise term, Glassling will be the term used herein.

Effects
The simplest explanation for the World of Glass is that it links anyone afflicted with it inextricably to everyone else within the World of Glass. They will recognize every other individual at a glance according to a set of predetermined roles that each of them has been assigned. This role can only be gleaned partially by other World of Glass members, and only through relations they recognize between each other. For example, two individuals might separately understand their connection to a third as "friends", but only upon meeting each other will they get the feeling that their World of Glass roles are "siblings".

Because its effects only occur when meeting another World of Glass member, one could go their entire life without ever being affected by this phenomenon. Many such individuals may have existed throughout history. Those who experience it may have a sudden sinking feeling of recognition, knowing the face or name of a person before they've been introduced. Suspicion of each other has been demonstrated several times, as ages don't line up with the Glass-knowledge and personalities conflict. Fragments of conversation occasionally worm themselves into the minds of Glasslings when they speak with one another, voices of versions of themselves who, if they ever existed, are long dead. Things they would never say in this life, things that aren't true. Like all soulwhispers, this can be disorienting and make the afflicted feel pervasive doubts about themselves. In the case of the World of Glass, this is particularly socially distressing.

The popular theory amongst those affected by the World of Glass is some sort of shared previous incarnation, whether of themselves or as someone else, that they have been imparted knowledge of. Those involved do not take these relationships as fact, and instead have come together with the World of Glass only as a conversation starter. Ignoring the fragments of ghost-voices that present themselves is a monumental task, however. The resemblances for some of the roles is... uncanny, to say the least, and the task of separating out one's true thoughts from background noise has never been easy for anyone.

Affected Individuals
The World of Glass has imparted itself to several individuals throughout time, some of which were much more influential than others.

Moveriath, the Strioboros was the first individual to be affected by the World of Glass, and was perhaps given the strongest taste of it. Though no others with the World of Glass would be born for millennia, he retained enough vague memory and ideas of it to believe in its existence. He called himself the "first Fallen Star" and believed that many more would come to follow him, ripped from the heavens as he was. Moveriath was an incarnation of the role known as "Cursed-by-Vastness", and was seemingly imparted with the memory of Cursed-by-Vastness's death, the curse of being something at odds with the theology of the world and connected to higher power that ultimately became his downfall.

Vyerul, King of Shadows is a current incarnation of the known role "Mage in the Cavern". He was unaware of the World of Glass until well after his own eclipse. His most disturbed theory is that his own hunger for power is a result of his role, that the person all of the Glasslings should have been is corrupted by this phenomenon.

Shovonei Iskulvetr is a current incarnation of the role "Winter Breeze", and is among the older Glasslings. He spent a century in the Galakaran military, making ample use of his power as a tempest dragon in his service. He coined the name "World of Glass" upon meeting Vyerul, and regards it as a deeply unsettling curse. Regardless, he has not been hesitant to know the other Glasslings, believing them all to be benign, though stricken by the same falsehoods he is.

Karrowyn Ryaulht is a frost dragon currently residing in Kerrekglen but originally born in Tarajttu. She learned of the World of Glass through a meeting with Vyerul, King of Shadows, and was deeply traumatized by the experience. She believes that the World of Glass is deeply evil, and refuses to be in proximity to anyone connected to it. Her flight to Kerrekglen is a reversal of the role she embodies, "Lady of the Mists".

Ylluvion Redsand is an aurora dragon from Galakar, though his heritage goes back to the moon Glassrun far away in Yahasain's system. He is haunted by visions of glass, shapes of shards never quite the same melting before him. Though he has only known of this phenomenon for a few years, it unsettles him less than most Glasslings. He works as a glassblower, and is an incarnation of the role "Sightless Seer".

Shais'sey Vyxeley is a glaucous dragon from Galakar, bearing the role of "Summer Breeze". Her connection to the role is weakest of all, able to glean almost nothing from any other Glassling role besides the fact that she knows them. With such low affectation by the World of Glass, Shais'sey doesn't regard it as a particularly noteworthy phenomenon.

Seren Afon-Tan is a sun dragon originally from the floating island Ailell. They have a rather weak connection to the World of Glass, though it seems to be getting stronger over time. They have met several other Glasslings, bringing more of them together through little traveling coincidences than any other. They are an incarnation of the role "Cursed-by-Vastness", and were seemingly imparted with Cursed-by-Vastness's curse of exceptionalism, of being the thing expected to finally bring eternal joy to their creators, made for that purpose alone and admonished for deviating from it.

Dexys Vrylat, self-proclaimed Ocean King is an ocean dragon who travels the Chrysokayan Sea. He is currently unaware of his role in the World of Glass, though he bears a strong connection to it only outdone by that of Moveriath. The title "Ocean King" has remained in his mind since his childhood, eminent of his Glassling role.

Tethyr Bathylis, a resident of New Aegis, is a monsoon dragon who is currently unaware of his role from the World of Glass. Without much reason to travel, and with most others' reluctance to go near the city, it is unlikely he will ever realize his connection to the phenomenon. Tethyr carries the role of "Cursed-by-Vastness". The curse of Cursed-by-Vastness that Tethyr is imparted with is the chimerism, the corruption of the Glass-role's own fragile existence by contact with everyone around them.

The Roles
The World of Glass' roles are named in the same self-fulfilling way as the Glass itself. They are simply known, and have a nasty habit of describing both the original role and all people who have been incarnated with it. They are understood only by relation to one another.

;Summer Breeze
:Sister to Winter Breeze, intermittent lover to Cursed-by-Vastness. A gentle woman who refused to accept the occupation of her homeland by an enchroaching empire. The first inhabitant of the mountain colony that was overtaken. Powerful but soft-spoken. Another casualty to the song that blacked out the sun.

;Winter Breeze
:Brother to Summer Breeze. A lighthearted and free-spirited wanderer, untethered to the world. Occasional visitor to the mountain colony, and the first to perish in the imperial expansion. The only role not taken by the spell of eternal sleep.

;Mage in the Cavern
:Another inhabitant of the mountain colony. A shy and reclusive mage who studied runeforms and forbidden blood alchemy in secret. Rarely showed his face, but appeared for the final battle against the imperial powers. Caught by the blackening sun while trying to formulate a counterspell.

;Sightless Seer
:A starfaring settler in the mountain colony. Timid and wisened from his travels, yet blind to the normal sights of the world. The first to notice the hands reaching to darken the sun, and the one who knew the special interests of the gods long before the others, though he was unable to relay it.

;Ocean King
:A disgraced heir to a kingdom under the waves of an inland sea, banished for incompetence through political scheming. He found refuge in the mountain colony, and was the first to suggest battle when its independence was jeopardized. Mortally wounded by the nameless bard before the sun darkened, and finished off by the eternal sleep.

;Lady of the Mists
:A wanderer from north, from the kingdom at war with Summer Breeze and Winter Breeze's homeland. Close friend to Mage in the Cavern after joining the mountain colony. Rarely showed her face, working to recreate her own form to better suit a world dominated by humans. The first to lose hope in the face of the expansion, and the one who managed to crack the nameless bard's mask before he could speak the deepest part of his histories.

;Cursed-by-Vastness
:Lover to Summer Breeze, the chimera taken in by the dragons in the mountains. An amnesiac with an innate talent for the sword and a truly uncanny internal well of power. Cursed-by-Vastness is, as the name suggests, one burdened by power they do not understand nor wish to use, and they have an extreme distrust of authority. Thrust into battle again and again against their will, they only move forward to protect what they have decided they cannot lose. They were the last of the roles to fall before the end of the World of Glass. The one of many faces whose role echoes across the world more prominently than any other.

The Story Itself
The World of Glass has a full story that will never be uncovered by everyone within its grasp. This legend is only known in full by the Silent Song, who crafted it for about the same purpose as it does all its soulwhispers and adjacent psychospiritual phenomena. It begins with the complete destruction of the world as it was known, a great reset by the powers that be to end an endlessly escalating hyperwar.

The World of Glass' tale is one of overseeing gods taking special interest in a group of dragons that had taken in a chimera; the same interest they extended to a burgeoning religion by a self-proclaimed prophet. The religion took over the great city and expanded, the gods doing nothing but providing relics across the world at convenient places while most of the Glassling roles were overrun by their imperial expansion. A masked bard appeared and blasphemed about an alleged true history of the world and the interference of the gods, and in retaliation they blacked out the sun and destroyed everything. A silent blackness fell over the world and all returned to conceptual nonexistence. And then, devoid of memory, the Glassling's eyes opened.

This tale is purely fiction; it is the poison the Silent Song inputs into the Glasslings' minds. Thus it should be regarded as such. A dangerous poison meant to position the World of Glass as a fragile truth waiting to break through a carefully constructed reality. Meant to sow distrust of society in the Glasslings, meant to give them fear of history and faith. As a soulwhisper it is truly one of the cruelest, tempered only in the fragmented nature it is known. Even in its immaturity, even in its blatant dissonace with reality, it compels Glasslings through whatever fragments of it they see to believe it as true. The Silent Song's stories are always compelling by nature, no matter how drab or poorly constructed, and that is what makes them so uniquely dangerous.
