History of Space Travel
Vessel Classifications
Aerospace travel is a facet of daily life in every corner of Kachiro. Over the thousands of years, corporations and space agencies have designed a myriad air- and spaceships, gradually necessitating the development of standardized categorization systems. In the present day, the following systems are widely recognized by the constellation's superpowers:
- Triton model - divides ships into overarching categories based travel capabilities in air and in space.
- Imperial system - divides the roles of military aerospace vessels by their weaponry and flight characteristics.

Aerial
Airplanes
Airplanes are vessels built to fly exclusively in atmospheric conditions using either propellers or jet engines. Since they don't ever reach space, they don't require advanced technologies such as life support or shielding, and consequently are far more affordable. They can be found across the entirety of Kachiro, largely transporting cargo and people.
Orbital
Shuttles
Shuttles are small craft designed for suborbital and interplanetary travel, necessitating less speedy Seraph drives to sustain the space-time distortions. They can be operated effectively by a single person and are primarily used for travel between nearby locations; however, they are relatively ineffective in other roles. The affordability of shuttles makes them popular among civilians, with many individuals in wealthier regions owning one. Shuttles need ferries to navigate the stars, as their construction cannot withstand breaches in rift space on their own.
Starcruisers
Starcruisers are medium-sized craft capable of suborbital, interplanetary, and interstellar travel, a middle ground between the smaller shuttles and massive voidships. They are considered to be the most versatile ship type, excelling in nearly every role ranging from cargo hauling and deep-space exploration to intense combat. Consequently, starcruisers are the prevailing class of ships in the constellation, frequently seen in the hands of navies, businesses, and civilians. Only a single person is usually needed to pilot these ships, yet a decently sized crew complement vastly increases their potential. The unavoidable breaches in rift space limit their ability for continuous interstellar travel, often necessitating a recharge period that can last for days.
Voidships
Voidships are vessels that operate exclusively in space, too massive to sustain stable suborbital flight. They rely on shuttles to conduct planetary business, docking only at orbital ports. With crews measuring in the hundreds, they are the backbone of the intergalactic society and uphold the infrastructure in nearly every region of the constellation. Voidships can tolerate continuous rift breaches and are the only ships that are able to reliably traverse intergalactic routes.

Spaceplanes
Spaceplanes are an aerodynamic subtype of shuttles and starcruisers built to fly in both cosmic and atmospheric environments. Stronger thrusters are installed on these ships in order to counteract the air pressure.
