Though officially irreligious, the Union has reverence for three main figures - The Visionary, the Stargazer, the Defiant, and the Persistent. The oldest of these figures is the Visionary, who is held up in the highest regard, particularly among the Kin. |

To an outside perspective, this may seem religious in nature, but this is not the case. These are seen as influential figures who played a large role in shaping what the Union would become, or leading the charge of change that would lead their respective worlds on the path towards the formation of the Union. |

The Cosmic Union is one of the major Spheres within the Sky River. With a long and complex history before reaching it's current form, the Union was founded in the Voidsea, via the merging of several smaller Spheres - The remnants of it's predecessor, the Solar Union, and the newer Stjarna Union, and the Fasian Dominion, which acts as a semi-separate, but equal co-partner of the Union.
Though it's history is not neat, but holds claim to being one of several Spheres that technically survived the Technopocolypse, albeit in a newer form. It is one of the most rapidly expanding and infrastructurally developing regions in the Sky River - Colonization projects are near constant, with new worlds and colonies being established rapidly. In addition, the Union is very open to other worlds and Spheres becoming part of the Union, which many have done for a variety of reasons - Accruing a variety of benefits in the process, from additional manufacturing, refinement, and naval capability, to different Kindes being able to colonize different worlds are faster rates - the Union has shown itself to be deeply resourceful, adaptive, and eager to expand.
Despite this however, though the Union has made it clear that it prefers peaceful co-existence, there have been many incidents and conflicts. Which have proven that when pressed, they are fully capable of being some of the most ruthless fighters in the Sky River. By the 17th Century of the Valhallan Age, like most other Spheres, the Union has become involved perpetually in the conflicts that surround it.
As a major player in the Eternal War, the Comic Union has a great number of enemies - Though it has persisted. However, through alliances, support of smaller players on both moral and political grounds, and from protecting itself against attacks, the Cosmic Union has found itself fighting major conflicts on just about every front. While large, influential, and capable of fighting, the Union finds itself surrounded on all sides, fighting against massive odds, which it must persevere with grit if it seeks to survive.
Foundation
The Union was founded by the same means two of it's founding members were formed - The unification of several factions.
Before the Technopocolypse, the Solar Union was a major power within the Sky River - Controlling vast swatches of territory. Once the Technopocolypse arrived though, much of the infrastructure that allowed the Solar Union to function fell apart, and much of the Union fell apart. The Solar Union remained, fragmented though it was, and was centred around the world of Xeo-Quartz, where it would remain until contact was established with the Stjarna Union.
