Overview
Endless Horizon is a collaborative universe project centered around exploration, discovery, and storytelling using the simulation program SpaceEngine. Set in the far future, circa the Year 3000, humanity has become a thriving interstellar civilization, having colonized many worlds and made contact with a diverse range of alien species. Endless Horizon is a universe where imagination meets scientific wonder, using real and procedurally-generated celestial bodies to inspire new worlds, colonies, alien home worlds, and civilizations.
While SpaceEngine is the primary tool used for building Endless Horizon, other programs such as Celestia are also welcome for contributions. Our goal is to create a rich, ever-expanding multiverse of stories anchored in the stars.
You can download SpaceEngine here: http://spaceengine.org/
How To Collaborate
Endless Horizon is OPEN for contribution by anyone interested. For questions regarding the setting, collaboration, or lore integration, please reach out through the project Discord or via direct messaging the coordinator: SpaceGeorge
Rules for Collaboration
Endless Horizon’s primary rule is creative freedom, with a few important guidelines:
- Worlds, civilizations, and lifeforms should be built around planets, stars, and systems found or generated within SpaceEngine (or similar simulators).
- Submissions can range from human colonies, alien societies, or even isolated worlds teeming with unknown forms of life.
- Consistency is encouraged where applicable — such as referencing existing colonies or species — to maintain a sense of a shared, interconnected universe.
- Extreme-scale events (such as galaxy-destroying cataclysms) are disallowed unless previously discussed and agreed upon by Scope head.
- New lore can be structured as independent narratives, part of greater arcs, or compiled into sector reports, planetary histories, and character chronicles.
There is no single overarching story, but ongoing themes include exploration, wonder, survival, diplomacy, and the unknown mysteries of the cosmos. The setting thrives on a spirit of discovery and the endless potential of the universe.
With this in mind, enjoy your journey through the Endless Horizon Universe!
