Gravity Wave Wormhole Disruption (GWWD) is the phenomenon of strong gravitational waves destabilizing a wormhole.

General

Discovery

In 5185, the CoB constructed a wormhole three light years away from a binary neutron star system to learn more about gravitational waves.

Seconds after the wormhole was constructed, it began to destabilize. The scientists building it took into account the predicted sensitivity that wormholes had to gravitational waves, but they did not expect it to be this extreme. Taking a chance to see what happens to objects within the interiors of collapsing wormholes, a probe was fired inside.

The Wormhole collapsed, making it impossible to enter. The probes sent inside never came out, and are predicted to be in Plane Four, the dimension of space that wormholes go through allowing quick travel between locations in 3D space, like a pencil puncturing a folded piece of paper.

Weaponization

This effect was weaponized heavily by The Supreme during the War of the Ancients to disrupt Seekite wormholes. The Supreme used Gravitational-Wave Generators to achieve this.

Objects stuck in Plane Four due to Collapsed Wormholes

There have been thousands of objects accidentally lost to space in higher or lower dimensions.

25,904CE

A ship was sent to Earth to help its citizens recover from a war, however the wormhole collapsed due to negligence. The ship is not visible nor is it able to interact with our universe as it has moved in four-dimensional space out of our plane of existence.

139,405CE

12 scientific probes are stuck in plane four after a terrorist attack caused machinery keeping the wormhole open to break.

155,998CE

304 construction drones were lost to Plane Four space when they were sent through a wormhole.

197,889CE

A scientific starship going from Earth to Ambrosia to investigate the Mysterium Region was lost when its wormhole collapsed. A transmission came through just before the mouth of the wormhole shut, however it was cut off corrupting it.
