Template:Species TemplateThe Vespa are an insectoid species from the tidally locked world of Avispa in the Avessepa System within the Mid Arm in the Ambrosia Galaxy.

Appearance

Vespas resemble large, red wasps about four feet long. Like their smaller earthly counterparts, the Vespa have six spindly legs, a set of two large wings. However, they instead possess three eyes instead of two. Their third eye is able to sense whenever a deadly solar flare is emitted from their planet's star in which they will retreat to the nearest hive.

Behavioral information

The Vespa are semi-sentient, and like their earthly counterparts, they have different classes which is: the queen, the guards and the workers. They reside in gigantic hive structures, each ruled by a queen.

Because of their size, they are able to pick up larger prey, their main food source are a species of herbivores that inhabit the grassy areas. Like Earth wasps, they have a stinger and will inject a deadly poison to kill prey.

Queens: The largest of them all, queens give birth to new Vespas. Queens live at the centre of their respective hives and are constantly guarded.

Guards: These Vespas guard the central part of their hives, always protecting the queen. Guards have a certain scent given to them by the queen to let others be able to know.

Worker Drones: The most common class, these Vespas are tasked with hunting prey and bringing it back to the hives. A random worker will be selected to be the queen's mate.

History

There's not much to say about the Vespas' history although they have existed in their current state for a few thousand years and don't appear to show any technological development so they are classified as primitive by the Alliance's xenobiologists, meaning that they are unable to interact with the species in order to not violate the contact directive they a legally obligated to follow.

They are considered far too primitive to join the Ambrosia Alliance of United Systems although their intelligence has been noted as something if interest.
