“My word, they look... beautiful! A civilisation worthy of the title; the Peacemakers.” - Former Ambassador to the United Planets, Saxon Prive.
The Garrius-Hadians are a bipedal, humanoid species that originate on the ringed world of Garrius-Hade.
They are regarded as the Peacemakers of the Tymon Arm; loyal to their allies and compassionate towards their enemies. A war never solves anything, but the demonstration of love will guide the way, as they say in their culture.
Physical Body
They resemble the Humans from planet Earth, where they have four limbs; two arms and two legs. On their backs stretches a thick line of scaly skin from their heads to the arse. After forty years of age, the skin disappears and signals the end of fertility in both sexes.
They have large Elephant-like ears, which flap with the wind. Strong, sudden gusts can tear the ear to pieces, but amazingly, the tissue around the wound can regrow into a new ear. The ears can hear sound as well as detect electromagnetic waves, which causes it to twitch slightly.
Culture
They are traditionally a very romantic species, with many of their most famous literature and art being based on the idea of polygamy. They believe the act of being wed with just one partner throughout their life is immoral, as it doesn't provide a greater lasting legacy for their genes. They do, however, favour the idea that everyone is unique because of who the individual chooses to be, not because of their lineage.
Communitarians
Garrius-Hadians place the importance of an individual's responsibilities, both moral and financial. However, there is a break away movement that seeks to establish a decentralised power system. They are economically progressive and socially conservative; a rare type of politics in the United Planets. Garrius-Hadian Communitarians believe in the rights of the community at the expense of some individual rights.
They founded their own political party to represent them in the government. They are sidelined by all the major parties, and considered too radical for the nation.
