Had the Technopocalypse never occurred, we would likely have crossed the Cosmic Tide into other Galaxies by way of the Voidsea millennia ago."
The Technopocalypse was an event which marked the end of the Void Age, and the end of many of the empires, federations, factions, and civilizations of it's time. It's importance to the history of the galaxy cannot be underestimated, as it was the basis for much of what would come to be many millennia later. It marked the beginning of the Starless Age.
When the Broadwave first began as Taekni emerged and became a regular staying power within the Voidsea, there wasn't a single civilization that was prepared - Integrated as Taekni is with Technology, many systems simply overloaded or were no longer shackled to their safety restrictions. Starships became unable to function, artificial life forms rose up in revolt, communication lines broke down, navigation systems failed - This left many worlds entirely isolated, unable to communicate with the wider galaxy, unable to trade for their essential resources, and left to fend for themselves in a new era of Techno-Magick.
Worse still, many forms of advanced technology were outright lost during this time period, essentially setting much of the galaxy back to incredibly primative, basic
Historians and scholars all across the Voidsea speculate that the Technopocalypse was caused by the emergence of Taekni, but this is not strictly accurate - More primitive forms of Taekni were present in various civilizations all across the galaxy, but these were far more localized.
