The Titanic States of Saturn, otherwise known as the Titanic States, or simply, the States, was a Voidsea nation operating around the Void Cove of Titan, and claimed ownership of the Void Island Saturn, as well as all it's Coves, and other Islands within the Jovian region.
Founded after the Technopocolypse by survivors of the event, the Titanic States became the main power within the Sol Void Archipelago. They would utilize what remained of Titan's manufacturing and distribution systems in order to settle both the world of Titan, and the Voidsea around it. Quickly, they were able to spread to other worlds, finding some survivors on other Islands and Coves, such as Enceladus, Dione, and Iapetus. Each world contained something the other desperately needed. At this time, these worlds all still considered themselves to be part of the Solar Union, and so, rallied their resources together. Titan was chosen to be the operational hub of these worlds, where expeditions, reconstruction, and manufacturing were to be concentrated.
After several decades however, the sheer reality of their situation began to settle in - The rest of the Solar Union, if it still existed, was not coming any time soon. It was around this time that the worlds began to refer to themselves as the Titanic States of Saturn.
History
The history of the Titanic States of Saturn is long. It can be split into several parts.
The Void Age
Titan, Saturn, and the rest of the original worlds that made up the Titanic States were colonized during the Void Age, long before the Technopocolypse, by the Old Clans, and was under the control of the Solar Union. It was a major hub for trade and manufacturing, reaching heights that were beyond the dreams of most.
Originally settled both as research centres, relay stations for deeper Voidsea travel, and staging grounds for colonization projects elsewhere in the Void Archipelago, over the centuries, they rapidly expanded to become civilizations in their own right. Immense cities and manufacturing hubs and more existed among the Coves and the Island. They were considered to be gems of the Union.
The Technopocolypse
All of this would come crashing down when the Technopocolypse occurred. Like so many worlds, Saturn, Titan, and it's many Coves were not prepared for when the Broadwave hit. Once it did, much of their advanced technology either shut down, or was completely overloaded and destroyed. It's infrastructure took an immense hit - Industry came to a complete halt, communications blackouts, and many Voidsea vessels became inoperable, stranded, and with limited supplies. On worlds like these - Highly dependent on technology, the situation was far harsher than it otherwise would have been on a terrestrial world.
It was easy to tell that this had impacted not only Saturn and it's Coves, but much of the Union as well. Communications being unavailable, the various worlds had to survive with what remained. The technology that could be repaired was within a matter of weeks. Communications were among the first, and messages reaching out to other worlds were both received and sent. Several Voidsea ships which had either withstood the Broadwave, or had been repaired by their crew, that were nearby made their way to the system, seeking refuge, and were accepted. This allowed several Coves to begin sending out crews to seek out other survivors, in an attempt to rebuild the local network - Which in many cases, they were able to do.
Deep Voidsea travel was unavailable for some time - Many ships were only fixed for short-range travel, and the ability to move into deeper space was beyond them at this stage.
Establishing the Titanic States of Saturn
Still considering themselves to be part of the Solar Union, the worlds banded together to share needed resources and information. Titan was selected to be the Capital, due to how quickly it had been able to re-establish itself, and it's stronger civic infrastructure.
The next few years were a variety of missions to find local surviving groups - Many of which were successful. The local region had been deeply colonized, so there were many groups that had formed, and would go on to join the Saturnian survivors. Many would bring additional resources, or offer a service that helped to rebuild.
This changed when they encountered large swatches of pirates operating out of both the Belt Skerry, and the Uranian Reef - Though they still considered themselves to be part of the Solar Union, suffering major casualties saw these groups adopt a more militaristic approach. Resistance was eventually met with immense force, that was deployed mercilessly. In the eyes of the Saturnian survivors, those who would resort to piracy were threats to the re-establishment of the Union as it was before the Technopocolypse.
These conflicts kept emerging, and eventually resulted in the formation of the Titanic States of Saturn - Which became willing to utilize massive military force to rebuild the Union.
The Height of Power
Seeking to bring the whole system under it's control, Titan was able to expand it's reach to all of the Jovian worlds, though hesitated when it came to the Inner Core, due to an ongoing conflict with the Kuiper Confederacy. The arrival of the Vystaal was used as an opportunity to attack the Inner Core worlds indirectly. When the deception was uncovered, the inner core worlds rallied against Titan, beginning the Great Jovian War in earnest.
