I am tormented by an everlasting itch for things unknown. I love to sail forbidden seas.

Freia Incident
Front-on view of Freia (Bairdi class freighter)
Top-down view of Freia (Bairdi class freighter)
History
Date

14 August 2832

Cause

Unknown spatial displacement; possible Vernhan involvement

Effect

Crash of Freia; recovery of S.P.A.C.E.E.N.G.I.N.E. data crystal; diplomatic tensions with Vernhans

Location
Location

Titan, Saturn, Sol System

Involvement
Participants
  • Republic of Cygnus-Orion
  • Republic of Sol Internal Defence
  • Vernhan species

On the 14th of August 2832, an interstellar freighter of the Bairdi variant christened Freia (ship address IF 2799-04) inexplicably appeared in space around Titan and collided with the surface shortly after. The 5-petabyte Silica data crystal onboard was recovered 3 days later by the Republic of Cygnus-Orion and kept under secrecy by the Republic of Sol Internal Defence. 50 years later, it was leaked to the public as an Imperium breacher drone disabled a military vessel containing the data and broadcast the information on board intent on making the Republic’s strategies known. The militants on board who survived were discharged upon return to a local system for keeping the data on-board a cruiser that had not been cleared to carry any unnecessary information.

The possibility that a Vernhan vessel dragged a Human vessel to Titan through unknown means before allowing it to crash did spark some tensions between the two species - the Vernhans selected to attempt conversation with human officials secreted a chemical signifying unhappiness when pressure mounted to allow further investigation of their vessels and their missions. The current idea of their motives is that the Vernhan vessel was a rogue intent on destroying a Human vessel, although the Vernhans seem to deny this. As of the present day, the incident remains a point of discussion through anti-Vernhan societies and the military sector. Such an incident has not happened again, marking the Vernhans once again mostly trustworthy.
