Alien biosphere exploration and study

The Xenobiology Research Organisation (X.R.O for short) is an organisation dedicated to studying alien life and ecologies on different worlds.

History

Founded by Yasir Ahmedi in 2348 after the discovery of life on Proxima 4, with it now being confirmed that life exists beyond Earth, the XRO soon set out to hunt for extrasolar worlds with alien biospheres.

The first worlds to be studied were Proxima 4 and Ta'chipal due to their obvious and relatively close distances and still continues to this day.

Exploration methods

The XRO uses small drones, probes and orbital stations when examining inhabited worlds. The

The drones are roughly 22cm in size and are equipped with a single camera, a bio-scanner and a small arm to pick up rocks. They usually observe the habits and behaviour of more complex organisms from a distance so as not to startle or aggravate them in any way.

Small rovers are also deployed from the drones to analyse microorganisms and smaller plants. These rovers bare a resemblance to the old Sojourner rover on Mars except with bulkier wheels and stronger solar panels. They come equipped with a small drill that analyses the composition of rocks when drilling into them.

Small robotic submarines observe life in aquatic environments, usually ocean worlds or the subglacial seas of ice worlds.

Current missions

The XRO's current worlds of study are:

Proxima 4

Ta'chipal

Freyja

Gaia
