Wild Space
Wild Space is the final frontier, or at least regarding the expanse of the Milky Way. With a population of just 8.2 trillion individuals, it alone is less populous than even some planets, but is a popular destination for ambitious explorers and frontiersmen as only a quarter or so of all of its systems have been visited. The average population of a system in Wild Space is negligible - sitting well under several hundred However, there is a very small countable number of outliers who have attained colonized status and are unique for being population centers, despite being separate from Colonized Space by over 30,000 light years. As a consequence of the isolation in Wild Space, it is not only a major center for exploration, but also crime, as there are vast gaps in the de-facto control of interstellar space by Lactean polities. It should also be noted that the population of Wild Space only counts those who live there permanently or at least for long periods of time, not nomads, and as a result, the population of criminals roaming the depths of space here alone outnumber the population of inhabitants.
