O'Neill cylinders are a type of space habitat first proposed by Gerard k O'Neill in the 1970s. he proposed a large cylinder that will comfortably house 1 million people, eventually the idea went through with the first O'Neill cylinder called rama station being built in the 1980s. there are many types of O'Neill cylinders there are ones being made for farming while some are giant megacities
