The designation of Seidr World is given to worlds that, for one reason or another, have an incredibly abundant connection to the Arcane. The designation is named after the Void Island of Seidrheim, a Seidr World of extreme importance to the Cosmic Union.
Etymology and Terminology
The term Seidr translates roughly to 'Arcane' in the Nova Runic language. Older translations in early Nova Runic are more akin to 'Magic'.
Most Factions in the Voidsea have a designation for Seidr Worlds, though they may not use the exact same term. For example, the Twilight Imperium will use the term 'Ars Dunamis' for a Seidr World.
Designation
Seidr World is a designation that lacks much rigidity or consistency, as those that fall into it are in no way uniform - Seidr Worlds can be incredibly diverse and distinct from one another, and are not restricted to any one type of world. They can be barren rocks, gas giants, verdant, or water rich worlds, inhabited formerly, currently, or never at all. Though rarer, asteroids have been documented as meeting all the requirements that would designate it as a Seidr World. And rarer still, but also recorded, are Void-Constructs, abandoned for millennia, which have also demonstrated the same qualities that would meet the designation.
The designation cannot even be used to specify the impact this can have on the environment. Phenomena from islands of rock and soil inexplicably floating in the sky, to Taeknikinetic infused wildlife, to otherwise completely normal worlds, bar their deep connection to the Broadwave, have all been documented.
Seidr Worlds are further harder to define, as there are no set reasons how a Seidr World can come into being. Some are designated as such due to being central worlds in the Weaveway Network. For others, plantlife may evolve to be prolific enough to store and emit the Broadwave, creating a feedback loop that engulfs the world. There have further been successful artificial Seidr Worlds created. The single point of similarity is that, for whatever reason, these worlds are deeply tied to the Broadwave, and Taekni’s impact is more heavily felt. Beyond this, there is little commonality by which to categorise them.
Sub-Designations
Despite the incredibly variety of Seidr Worlds, some can be categorised into sub-types. These sub-types are categorised by the impact the Arcane has on the world. For example, if two Void Islands exist, one being a water world, and the other a lava world, but both display chronological phenomenon, they would both be classified as Time Worlds, despite being completely different Void Islands in terms of environment.
Time Worlds - Time Worlds are an inversion of the laws of relativity. To an outside perspective, Time Worlds spin on their axis at an incredible speed that should not be possible. For every second that passes in real-space, a month may pass on a Time World. To those on the Time World however, no change is notable. Entire generations can be born, live, and die in a matter of hours to an outsider, but to an insider, over a hundred years may pass. Time Worlds are rare, but immensely valuable commodities, though maximising their uses can lead to immense complications.
Causes
The mystery of what precisely causes a world to naturally form into a Seidr world is currently unknown, as there appears to be no pattern or commonalities that would unify them.
Scientists and Arcane researchers dedicated to the study of Seidr Worlds have a number of theories, ranging from gravitational effects, to the Broadwave being attracted or repelled by certain minerals. Many of these are speculative at best, however. The overall consensus appears to be that Seidr Worlds are an emerging phenomenon, formed by laws and rules of Taekni that are yet to be understood. Research is constantly ongoing, with particular headway on the Void Island of Rannsaka.
There is Crossover between Seidr Worlds and Amplifier Worlds. Amplifier worlds are nearly entirely mechanical, and serve the explicit purpose of spreading the Broadwave further. Seidr Worlds can be of any sort of composition, and do not necessarily spread the Broadwave externally.
