Acellaris

Author: S.A.FClearance: Esz

Description:

File:Echros.gif

Echros is an entity of unknown nature positioned approximately 7.427 astronomical units from Acellaris in the direction of the galactic core. It has assumed the form of a black hole enveloped by a bright, slightly blue-tinted accretion disk. Any visual contact with the entity leads to an intense feeling of paranoia and impending doom after no more than two days. Furthermore, several subjects have exhibited a loss of lucidity a week after the exposure.

The entity was discovered in 1253 by an amateur astronomer visiting the Res Point Observatory in southern Zechria. The discovery was quickly published online. A reported 241 individuals had suffered from Echros' effects and were involuntarily hospitalized prior to the S.A.F.'s awareness. The public has since been placed under the assumption that Echros was a hoax.

Anomalous Properties:

Echros exhibits several anomalous properties:

- It is undetectable beyond visual observation.
- The gravity of Echros does not influence any of the planets in Acellaris.

Mental Effects:

The precise moment a subject's subconscious mind registers the presence of Echros, they are beyond saving. That process can take less than a second of exposure. There are no known cures or methods to treat or even alleviate the effects from exposure. The most common symptoms include:

- Paranoia.
- Visual hallucinations.
- Auditory hallucinations.
- Sense of impending doom.
- Loss of lucidity.
- Suicide.

Redaction:

Once the S.A.F. grew aware of Echros, they published several scientific articles that would deny the existence of Echros. Among several explanations, it noted the gravitational influence that Echros would have otherwise had on Acellaris' planets.

Search engine results were later manipulated to obscure any information on Echros, including the aforementioned articles. Any discussions on the existence of Echros are completely redacted.

Theories:

A theory by composed by researcher Allercia Seon states:

Echros is a fragment of an unrealized timeline that has intruded into ours. Echros' anomalous properties are then explained by the entity not properly integrating into our reality. The mental effects following visual contact with the entity could be an intense case of the Ralis Effect, a well-documented mental disorder that manifests following a subject's exposure to a temporally foreign object.
