"Holyupsk... With endless exotic farm fields, countless fun rural areas, and untouched deserts and jungles, it is an interplanetary marvel. Dare I say, it appears even more charming than Lowrokira's lucrative surface..."

-Kryrono-Lomir, remarking at Holyupsk, his home planet.

Description

Template:Ambrosia: WorldHolyupsk is the second planet in the Saykya System, and is the most major agricultural cultivation and rural residence planet in the system. Formerly standing as a barren desert wasteland, Holyupsk has been terraformed to make it much more friendly to Zythyns. Choknoa is deeply affiliated with the Lowzyol Federation, being a member of the LZF Core Worlds. Holyupsk is held in a very high and protective regard, and as a result its two moons are heavily guarded and trade is thoroughly searched.

Holyupsk has stood as a testament to time, remaining as a very valuable planet with high quality exports, and a famed world stable population. While farming on its surface is much less during early colonization, Holyupsk has still been able to be the top foods provider. Holyupsk has also stood as a planet of impenetrable defense, proven by its two fierce moons which are armed to the brim.

Prior to terraformation, Holyupsk was a barren and lifeless desert planet, akin to Venus pre-terraforming. However, Holyupsk's temperature was much more manageable, and Zythyns could easily establish early-day colonies without the worry of acid or melting heat. Since terraformation, Holyupsk has cooled considerably, though Zythyns still have a difficult time in the deserts and the equator.

In modern day, Holyupsk is seen serving its previously mentioned purpose of agriculture, protection, and exports. However, Holyupsk also preforms greatly in culture, having many unique and diverse corners scattered around the planet. Holyupsk is also the first planet which opened up to Sedrua, giving rise to many more cultures and new enigmatic locations.

Holyupsk is one of the only terraformed planets to have an ongoing mining campaign under its surface. There are large known areas of unmined gold under Holyupsk, which are carefully extracted and used to manufacture computer parts. Gold also plays a fair role in Holyupsk's economy, only being outsold by cheap cement and concrete. The biggest gold reserve is under the Noikpo Sea, the largest inland sea on Holyupsk.

Geography

One of the most outstanding features about Holyupsk is its unique geography, as it possesses many features never seen in any other planets in the Saykyan System. Its most noticeable geographic feature is the vast deserts, which are used for harvesting the sands for cement and concrete, as well as many remote mining sites. Deserts are also filled with huge agricultural centers, much like the large agricultural towers on Earth's Sahara Desert.

The second most noticeable feature is the unique plants on Holyupsk's surface, which utilize chlorophyll instead of retinal for its plant base. This is because native Lowrokiran plants would not retain water that well, and soon die from thirst. While there are Lowrokiran plants in climate controlled areas, the more resistant chlorophyll was used as an alternative. At this time, chlorophyll was discovered as an alternate plant base, and it soon spread to almost every obscure corner of Holyupsk, making it the odd green color that it is.

There are many serrated mountain ranges on Holyupsk, which is a result from its former high wind speeds and deathly sand storms ripping at the bedrock. Many eroded areas can clearly be seen on the surface, usually as touristic destinations or wildlife reserves. Forests dot the areas around these, occasionally covering these old mountains as the sand became soil.

As the population on Holyupsk is quite low, countless native areas have been preserved for the most part. Many deserts have stood the same, while the geographically new forests have been untouched since their creation. Life sprawls all over any region of Holyupsk, and many ecosystems have formed inside even the most hidden areas.

Continents

Holyupsk is a rather dry planet, containing only three major landmasses. While there technically are only three landmasses, there are four described continents, with varying cultures, sizes, populations and living conditions. A comprehensive list of major landmasses is below:

Chozovok

An image of Chozovok from orbit. Chozovok dominates its landscape, with endless deserts and small patches of flora, as well as many large lakes. The Thulvyke Sea is easily visible near the top.

Chozovok is the absolute largest continent of Holyupsk, amassing to about 55% of all land area on Holyupsk's surface. Chozovok is also the most arid continent, with vast deserts, and sparse forests near flatter areas. smaller forests and plains also exist, which grasp to the shores. Throughout Chozovoks landscape, there are countless organisms, which have all adapted to the diverse environment. Forms of cacti, unique chlorophyll-based plants, and kinds of megaflora are present in the deep deserts.

Being the largest continent, Chozovok contains the most amount of people on the surface of Holyupsk. Chozovok contains only one of many major cities, which is Molmichi City. In the more rural areas, shanty and rather underdeveloped towns litter the arid landscape, far away from planetary law. The sheer amount of desert also makes Chozovok hold many agricultural centers, which are dedicated to feeding the planet's populous for the most part.

Even holding about half the land, the rest of Holyupsk is more densely populated than Chozovok. This comes from its inhospitable deserts, usually reserved for species with a higher tolerance. This has not stopped Zythyns from making climate-controlled cities in the deserts, though.

Over millennia of this diverse climate, cultures formed inside the arid deserts. The most prominent of these cultures is the Sūbahani People, a large and nomadic group which has settled much of the inner deserts all the way to some valleys and rainforests. The Sūbahani People utilize a loosely connected network of sparse technology, which lets them travel with their own vehicles and live in a secluded life.

With its vast deserts, Chozovok is a victim of constant sandstorms that beat down on the environment. While life has mostly adapted to these, freak sandstorms are a prevalent issue for the Sūbahani People, as well as other rural and faraway sectors. These deserts also hold many patches of suitable sand for the processing of cement and concrete, a common resource used for new colonies and for things like roads and structure stability.

Landscape

Unlike most continents, Chozovok holds many dense and crowded mountain ranges, which makes up all of the Atacaman environment in the interior. These mountain ranges have been seriously eroded by the wispy sandstorms, and have made intricate carvings on the sandstone peaks.

Thulvyke sea taken form orbit

A notable feature of Chozovok is a large equatorial body of water, named Thulvyke Sea. Thulvyke Sea has many sprawling swamp communities, as well as plains and savanna areas. Thulvyke Sea is also where the Sūbahani People hold some influence, as the desert creeps off into more grassy areas.

While there are underdeveloped areas around Thulvyke Sea, there are plenty of large raft towns, operated by the richer populous. The swampy areas on the shores only hold small towns, while the plains are usually reserved for cultivation.

Zochaliv

An image of Zochaliv taken from orbit. Notice the vast amounts of greenery and minimal amounts of arid areas.

Zochaliv is one of the largest continents on Holyupsk, as it comprises approximately 27% of the land area on the surface. Zochaliv is renowned for its thick jungle forests, unseen anywhere else on Holyupsk. Zochaliv is also one of the best areas of cultivation, which results from its minimal deserts and vast amount of flat plains. Unlike the other areas of Holyupsk, Zochaliv gets suitable amounts of rainfall and even snowfall on higher mountains. However, temperatures are still very sweltering in the humid jungles.

Inside Zochaliv's dense forests and jungles lies some of the most exotic life in the Saykya System. Here, cultivation of exotic fruits (Such as the Xlin-Tak Closk) and the growth of countless unique species appear. Since 20000 CE, mushrooms native to Earth have also appeared on he surface, harmlessly expanding and evolving. Many mushrooms have bio-luminescence as an attempt to lure in pollinators, as the thick jungle makes it hard to see for many. Other glowing flora and even interconnected megaflora species can be seen in these protected jungles.

While considerably smaller than Chozovok, Zochaliv has a similar population, and has some of the largest cities on Holyupsk. These cities originally started as farming cities, and soon grew to be megaopoli of colossal proportions. Life thrives much like a non-rural planet in these cities, with modern technology being commonplace. In these cities, many large agricultural centers in the more remote areas are usually connected for exports.

With its relatively large population, Zochaliv has a high species and cultural diversity, as well as a dense population in its borders. Countless people immigrate and emigrate to and from Zochaliv every day, which gives rise to large commercial networks of business and shops. The population of military veterans is also high from the two heavily defended moons of Poloskia and Emborkai.

Landscape

The landscape of Zochaliv is insanely diverse, with classical deserts and thick jungles. Many biomes in between appear, even snowy mountains and flat fields for cultivation. Zochaliv's geographic areas are usually flat, only with desertic area appearing mountainous and snowy. Many eroded jungle hills dominate the landscape though, with thick and dense forests that are protected by the planetary government.

While technically connected to the continent of Chozovok, Zochaliv is completely separate in its culture, geography, climate, and population content. Zochaliv is split from Chozovok on the end of the Noipko Sea, making it a rather clear continental border between the two. On this land bridge exists one of the largest cities on Holyupsk, Phozucurzik City. Phozucury City rests between Chozovok and Zochaliv, acting as a massive commuting and trading hub inhabited by millions of people.

Noipko Sea taken from orbit. Note the many islands inside.

A very notable feature of Zochaliv's landscape is the Noipko Sea, the largest inland sea on Holyupsk. The Noipko Sea contains many islands, rivers, and a thick jungle area surrounding it. Noipko Sea is also one of the most popular tourist attractions, which usually pulls in many species who live on warm oceania worlds. Many other species usually migrate to Noipko Sea every year, conducting ceremonies and celebrations on large raft cities. Islands inside Noipko Sea are also used for many events, usually kept for the richer populous and people of the like.

Noipko Sea is also known for its large undersea mining facilities, which dot the seabeds in sprawling and enigmatic ways. This is some of the only known mining that happens on Holyupsk's surface, and it allows it to export its large underground sections of gold. This gold comprises much of the local economy, and is usually sold to increase profits for the area around Noipko Sea.

Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok

Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok is a section of two large and connected landmasses, officially classified as a singular continent. The continent of Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok claims approximately 25% of all land area on Holyupsk, making it the third largest continent. Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok is unique in its geographical position, as it is located in the polar regions. This makes Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok a lot less dense in deserts, instead containing diverse forests and nonthreatening hills. Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok is also the most friendly continent to Zythyns, and this was their first place of colonization.

In the thick and foreboding forests of Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok, many large cities lie in Zythyn occupation. These are the first and original cities of Holyupsk, and they contain the most people in any city on Holyupsk. The most prominent of these cities is Veccion City, built off the first settlement made by Zythyns on Holyupsk.

As a result of its cooler temperatures, many different species have immigrated to Llyiamopok-Zorosmiok, and have thrived there for millennia. Cultures are rather indifferent, save for small groups of nomadic people residing in the forests. Deserts on this continent are only present in the subcontinent of Zorosmiok, and as a result most people live in the more southern subcontinent of Llyiamopok.
