The '''Carremmat Ro'kasa''' is one of the major powers within the [[Apple Nebula]], and a member of the [[Alliance of Five]] before its dissolution. Whilst by territory, it is the second smallest amongst the former member nations of the Alliance, the Carremmat Ro'kasa holds a unique advantage of being nearly free of infighting, due of near-perfect unity and coordination as a vast technological group mind. 

The Carremmat Ro'kasa as of today can trace their existence to a pair of terrible events that the young [[Var'kasa]] race experienced. Their signature biomechanical technology was first implemented to ward off the worst effects of the [[Hen'nelea Supernova]]. Their vast group-mind, often called the '''Carremmat''', was formed out of sheer desperation to win a war that they would otherwise have no hope in doing so, against a hostile alien fleet far more advanced than what even cutting edge Var'kasan technology was back then.

The political stance between subminds of the Carremmat Ro'kasa slightly differ from each other, but for a vast majority of their history, the Carremmat Ro'kasa tried it best to not participate in any major political events unless it thinks it is mutually beneficial (such as trade deals) and expand peacefully, albeit they were not above strong-arming minor powers, such as the [[Verathan Civilization]] and the [[Xalayin Planetary Alliance]] to follow their will or ''else.'' They will only participate in major wars if they are forced to, such as the [[Ro'kasa-Nardul War]] (war for their continued survival) and the [[War of the Broken Bow]] (in fears of being destroyed by the other members of the [[Alliance of Five]]). This has given it a reputation of being "useless cowards" by the other major powers and are somewhat beloathed, especially by the fanatical [[Sovereignty of Erorum]]. However in recent times, it has taken a more active and tolerant stance to other nations, such engaging in actual diplomacy and lifting its near-complete control of the [[Verathan Civilization]].

== History ==

=== [[Hen'nelea Supernova]] and I'ieo Beske ===
The Carremmat Ro'kasa can trace back its origin to the Treaty of Interstellar Exploration and Exploitation, later known as the I'ieo Beske, and that treaty, to the [[Hen'nelea Supernova]]. 

Many [[Var'kasa|Var'kasan]] scientists from back at 417 BC from back then came to a terrifying conclusion: a handful of close supermassive stars to [[Dena'kau'da]] are on the absolute final days of their life, and that their supernovae would easily disrupt the [[Dena'kau'da]] ecosystem, even with its thick atmosphere and strong protective magnetic field. Many scenarios predict a mass extinction of hundreds, if not thousands of species, some having key roles in their ecosystems. This indeed came true - many [[Dena'kau'da|Dena'kau'dan]] ecosytems were heavily disrupted, some completely collapsing, and even at present day, [[Dena'kau'da]] has yet to have fully recover, even after all of the predicted stars have detonated.

The news sent pretty much every pre-interstellar Var'kasan nations into panic. Many felt like this is truly the end of civilization as they knew it, as anarchy, criminality, and suicide rates shot upwards. The early nations decided put aside their differences by signing the Treaty of Interstellar Exploration and Exploitation (anachronistic name even back then, no official inter-"stellar" relocation plan existed), which stated that they will unite under one sovereignty: the Ro'kasa. 

The newly formed Ro'kasa then diverted pretty much all of its power and resources in development of a solution against the upcoming crisis. For 3 years the scientists toiled away, researching, testing, and determining the viability of every possibility for fending off the effects of the supernova. The scientists finally settled on the most basic of them all, leveraging the burgeoning industry of genetic modification and advanced biotechnology to modify of a few species of algae and other very small species to fulfil the utmost basic needs of the Var'kasa. Alongside than that, they also invented a series of biomechanical implants to reduce the amount of basic necessities a Var'kasa needed to continue living and increase their resistance towards ionizing radiation. The government then dumped all of the funds they had for the mass production of both the implants and the modified species.

Eventually in, 410 BC, astronomers narrowed down that the first supernovae will be from [[Hen'nelea]], around the next year or two, as the people are trying to get used to the new normal. The prediction turned out to be true, as in 23,277, 409 BC, the light from Hen'nelea's supernova reached [[Dena'kau'da]], just as the models predicted. Other supernovae will follow Hen'nelea's supernova from around a few decades to a few centuries in the future, but after surving the [[Hen'nelea Supernova]], the public has gained confidence that they will be able to survive the latter ones.

The [[Var'kasa]] might have been reduced into living in the deepest depths of the great world-ocean, surviving out of nothing but algal gruel and sheer will, but the Var'kasa ''survived'' nonetheless. However, this is but the first event in a pair that threatened the continued existence of the Var'kasa race, and will alter its history forever.

=== The [[Ro'kasa-Nardul War]] ===
After the [[Hen'nelea Supernova]], the Ro'kasa spent its resources to recover from the after effects of the supernova, and advancing the development of the implants to increase radiation immunity even further. Only around 402 BC, the Ro'kasa in earnest began their very first attempts at space colonization, establishing outposts around the 6 minor moons of [[Dena'kau'da]], and in 394 BC they send the very first crewed "interstellar" mission to a nearby rogue ice giant, finally validating the name of the treaty that made them in the first place.

However, celebrations are short lived, as the ship that they sent in the "interstellar" mission ''Karakalum'', stopped responding 392 BC. Their last message is simple: "''Hostile Alien Fleet approaching. current distance to [[Dena'kau'da]]: 0,317 light years.''" Later missions would confirm its fate: reduced to little more than scrap. This also coincided with the appearance of a bright infrared source from where the ''Karakalum'', alongside narrow radio waves, that contains repeating patterns far too complicated and orderly for any non-technological explanation. Thus marks the beginning of the first, yet most important war that the [[Var'kasa]] have ever experienced, the [[Ro'kasa-Nardul War]].

The Nardul Authority fleet that the Ro'kasa faced was no normal fleet of the Authority, but it was one of its infamous Extermination-Colonization Fleets. An Extermination-Colonization Fleet holds as much colonization equipment as it does weapons, designed to support the life of the Ispheron  on new worlds as much as to deal death of any species that [[Nardul Authority]] believed to be a threat to their divine order, unity, and harmony. The young Ro'kasa, even after the supernova, was determined to be one such threat, and an large fleet was sent to deal with them. Later records would show that normal protocols (the Ro'kasa was ths first alien race that the Nardul Authority, there hasn't been any "standard" procedure yet) indicate that an Extermination-Colonization fleet is supposed to offer the species it was sent to deal with an ultimatum: join them in Perfect Harmony or die by the Blade of Order. However, the fleet captain of the Extermination-Colonization fleet sent to [[Dena'kau'da]] saw ''Karakalum'' first and decided that the Ro'kasa is clearly too dangerous to be kept alive, even subservient to their Perfect Harmony. The fleet does not offer the Ro'kasa the ultimatum and decided to kill them without explanation.

The people quickly panic once more, but this time, the path forwards is clear. They will not go down without a fight. The Ro'kasa diverted all of its power to the production of warships, war related infrastructure, and most notably, a new biomechanical implant that allows the user to link their minds up to the warships, as if they are the very ships that they are "controlling". Those implants saw extensive use on the upcoming war, and proved to be one of the few advantages that the Ro'kosa had, other than sheer numbers.

On 390 BC, the time for war came. As the newly formed Ro'kasan Defence Fleet clashed with the [[Dena'kau'da]] Extermination-Colonization Fleet, one thing became clear as day. If things progress the way they did in those first skirmishes, the Ro'kasa ''will'' lose. The Ro'kasa had to sacrifice tens of ships to down a Nardulian ship of nearly the same size, and a severely damaged Nardulian ship that limped out of once battle might appeared in the next seemingly fully repaired, likely after receiving repairs from some unknown captured asteroid deep in "interstellar" space. As the weeks and months pass on, the situation progressed from being dire to utterly hopeless. Defences on the outermost minor moon have been broken, the next one barely holding the advance of the far more technologically sophisticated Nardulian ships. All other moons churn new ships and pilots, day and night with not even a single moment of respite, the exhausted Var'kasa stretched to their very limits.

In a final bid for their survival, the Ro'kasa ordered every single Val'kasa with the technology-linking implant to also link with each other, hopefully increasing battlefield coordination, one of the few advantages that the Var'kasa had against their invaders. However, the linking succeed beyond even the wildest of expectations, as over the course of a few months, the linked Val'kasan formed a group-mind, a mind far, far vaster than even the most ambitious of group-mind trials ever put to paper and pen. That grand group-mind quickly took over the role as leader of the Ro'kosa, and gave it a new name, Carremmat Ro'kasa: the Collective Will of the Val'kasa People.

The formation of the Carremmat Ro'kasa managed to turn the tide of the war. Many reasons exist for why the war changed favors to their side, from far better coordination of the fleets to the application of unorthodox tactics and strategies. However, the most significant of them was the fact that many captains, pilots, and other personel of the [[Dena'kau'da]] Extermination-Colonization Fleet defected to the Carremmat Ro'kasa, albeit not linking their minds yet; the mind-linking implant is not xeno-compatible yet. 

Preceding the [[Nardul Authority]], the Ispheron saw the rise and fall of a horrific dictatorship so terrible that they considers it "Aernul" (unspeakable) and wiped records of its name and tries its best to not teach the people ''what'' it has done. The Nardul Authority tries it best to distance itself from such said terrible dictatorship by many means, including a token effort at teaching the populace to respect and tolerate other nations or force: if they also uphold Perfect Harmony, to appease the Ispheron  who protested that the Nardul Authority is a bit too similar with the forgotten dictatorship.

By sheer luck, the Carremmat Ro'kasa manages to be such an force; what could be more a harmonious and united society than if said society ''is'' a single mind. The personel that defected believed as much and the invading fleet began to fall apart. The Carremmat Ro'kasa also gained much knowledge from the defectors, as some amongst them are bright scientists and engineers who readily shared the secrets of Narudlian techonlogy. By the time the combined fleet of the Var'kasa and the defectors rolled up to the colony ships that parked themselves around a series of close-by rogue asteroids and dwarf planets, the technological disparity between the Carremmat Ro'kasa and the Nardulian Fleet has significantly decreased; losses on both side are roughly equal now, with only a slight bias towards the Nardulian Fleet. 

The war officially ended in 387 BC, with the destruction of the ''Saint-General Vielde'', the flagship of the fleet and the largest colony ship the fleet has brought, roughly 500 meters long. However, this would not be the last time the Carremmat Ro'kasa will encounter the Nardul Authority, and unfortunately for them, the defecting crew members of the [[Dena'kau'da]] Extermination-Colonization Fleet will not a one time occurrence.  

=== Aftermath of the war and the Kalsin Genocide ===
As the news of the existence of the Carremmat Ro'kasa and the failure of the [[Dena'kau'da]] Extermination-Colonization Fleet begins to spread within the Nardul Authority, more and more Ispheron began to question if the Nardul Authority was ''really'' the divine holder of Perfect Harmony. Rebel groups began to pop up everywhere in the nation, declaring that that the Carremmat Ro'kasa is the real divine holder of Perfect Harmony. Early attacks by the multitude of rebel groups on the Nardul Authority were often small and disorganized, but as time passed, the attacks became larger and more organized. Rumors had it that some of the bigger rebel groups were even organized by the Carremmat itself and/or other powers who are not happy with the continued existence of the Nardul Authority.

The Nardul Authority cracked ''hard'' on the perpetrators of attacks, executing them in agonizing and bizzare ways en-masse to make an example of those who wanted to rebel. However, this did not have the intended effect, as the rebel groups began to ballooned out their control, as many Ispheron  began to denounce the Nardul Auhority to be as bad, if not ''worse'' than the forgotten dictatorship that it claimed to ensure will never happen again under their leadership. The Carremmat Ro'kasa were happy receiving any Ispheron  who sough asylum on their homeworld, and began development of a version of the mind-link implant that can work between alien species. The first Ispheron  mind merged with the Carremmat around 378 BC and that number kept going up as the Nardul Authority split in the middle between the "rebel" groups who eventually all joined in with the Carremmat, and the remaining loyalists to the goverment. Then the Carremmat turned their sights on the dying Nardul Auhority. It was quickly torn between them and a handful of local powers. In 373 BC, the Nardul Authority is no more, as the last Inadu (Lord) of the Nardul Auhority surrendered. The Ispheron  managed for a while longer before being all subsumed by the Carremmat Ro'kasa, but they will never be the de-facto leaders of any interstellar power for their remaining time in the [[Apple Nebula]].

Meanwhile, whilst all of that was happening, a major group of [[Var'kasa]] that refused to link up with the Carremmat migrated to the world of Kalsin, the rogue ice giant that the ''Karakalum'' attempted to colonize. After the complete collapse of the Nardul Authority, they (now naming themselves the Qillka Ro'kasa, roughly translated as Old Ro'kasa) became a minor annoyance to the Carremmat Ro'kasa, a hole deep within its heartland of its ever-expanding territory. This somewhat precarious state remained for a decade, the Qillka Ro'kasa and the much larger Carremmat Ro'kasa co-existing without any forms of open conflict, until 362 BC with the development of FTL by the Carremmat.

In an act most ironic, the Carremmat offered a familiar ultimatum to their unlinked siblings: Join them or die. A small amount of Var'kasa of the Qillka decided to join the Carremmat, but a vast majority remained at Kalsin, steadfast in their refusal of linking. A short but brutal war followed the ultimatum, resulting in an overwhelming Carremmat victory. The old, battered ships of the Qillka barely stood a chance against the far more advanced, FTL capable Carremmat ships. Then, they turned their sights to the now defence-less habitats, and unleashed their full firepower against the innocent Qillkan citizens, all part of the very race that made the Carremmat to begin with.

When it is all said and done, the Qillka is no more. Every remaining Var'kasa there was slaughtered, down to the very last individual. Later historians dubbed this event the Kalsin Genocide, and it won't be the last.

=== Becoming a Superpower ===
This proved to be future president for behavior, as the collective engaged in an a campaign of rapid expansion. Much of the space surrounding them was either completely devoid of life, or was only inhabited by small, primitive powers incapable of putting up a fight against the endless fleets of the Carremmat Ro'kasa. Because of that, the collective quickly grew to become a superpower over the course of 100 years, and a brutal one at that.

The survivors from those lesser nations subsumed were given a choice similar to the one offered to their old siblings: Join or Die. Some chose to join, but even more chose to die, and were bombed back to dust. A vast majority of their atrocities occurred in this time period. However a few amongst those society (and some small Var'kasan and Ispheron contingents) managed to sneak away from the Carremmat's grasp and established themself as the [[Keren Guard]].

In 215 BC, their conquest of the stars eventually ran into a big problem, in the form of the [[Sovereignty of Erorum]] spinwards of them, and another expansionist empire, even to this day. Their rimward and coreward borders are also beginning to settle, as they began to face significant resistance.

== Government ==
The Carremmat Ro'kasa does not have any form of traditional government, but instead it is driven by the will of the Collective. An group of "individuals", whether it be the size of a small group of planetary vehicle to an entire Ne'era (sector) will generally mentally link up, sharing their qualia and thoughts with each other, vaguely approximating a united mind. However, the individuals within a group and separate and unite at their own desire, and theoretically can still operate independently without the support of a group-mind (albeit the "society" considers that as a taboo). This can happen recursively, a small detachment of a fleet might "bud" off into a new group-mind as members of the detachment connect to each other more than the main fleet, and that detachment if separated further might become multiple groups. If the detachment is to return with the main fleet, their will unite back with the fleet-group-mind to do what the fleet needs to do. 

The Collective is the final layer of the mental matryoshka doll of minds and subminds, composed out of ~20 Ne'era (sector) "minds", spread between a dozen star systems. Ne'era minds are normally made out of smaller system-sized group-minds, and those, out of "minds" made out of groups computronium instillations, defence and mining stations, civilian and military fleets, and dyson swarm satellites. Any smaller sub-mind are normally temporary, budding and united as needed. 

== "Society" ==
The organization of "individuals" and their interaction between each other within the grand framework that is the Carremmat Ro'kasa vaguely counts as some sort of "society". More often than not, the difference between one "individual" and another is blurry, as they will ultimately share their literal thoughts, qualia, and mental experiences, if they have a connection to the greater Collective.

A group-mind forms when a collection of "individuals" link their minds together. Similar to how more traditional sapient species, if allowed to interact together and given some form of goal, will spontaneously form a group with agreed in rules and roles, a group-mind characteristics and traits are an emergent consequence of when "individuals" connect and interact together with. 

An "individual" can normally freely join and separate from groups, often based on how well their "personality/traits" will mesh up with the group's, albeit on certain times, an "individual" must mentally link up with a group that does not mesh well with their "personality/traits". Group "personality/traits" overrides individual personality, they will act more according to the group mind's will than their own (as they generally ensure the survival and benefit of the group), and will slowly change their "personality/traits" to mesh with the group's "personality" better. A group can also count as an "individual" too and may act like it, smaller groups will merge and separate from bigger ones, change "personalities", and etc.

A group/"individual"'s personality will change over the course of time; their experience of the Universe will slightly differ, even if they are linked together. Eventually, the differences of personality may accumulate to the point where they might "decide" to become a new group. Ne'era (sector) minds or other massive aggregate minds the scale of star systems often form by this method, as certain parts of a group might mesh and work together better with each other rather than with the whole group, and will slowly increase connection and linking with each other, whilst reducing it with the bigger group, eventually forming into a whole new group.

Not connecting to a group is considered the biggest taboo or sin that the "society" has. Any "individual" who refuses to join any group will ether be killed, reprogrammed, or forced to join and assimilate into a random group. This applies to groups, theoretically even to Ne'era (sector) minds, albeit there has never been a case of a Ne'era mind refusing to link to other Ne'era minds and become part of the Collective. The other main taboo is leaving the Collective in the entirety, in which a mind that attempts to do so will be subject to the same punishments as any minds that refuses to connect to a group.

=== Foreign Relations ===
The Carremmat Ro'kasa attempts to maintain a neutral stance in the general political landscape of the [[Apple Nebula]], mostly only participating in trade deals with the other major powers if not forced to act; which has earned them a reputation of being unreliable cowards. However, its neutral stance changes when dealing with minor nations, as they are not above performing some drastic actions, up and including annihilating them if the collective sees fit. It generally accepts immigrants, if they are willing to join the Collective, albeit as mentioned before, leaving/emigration is considered a taboo and any "individual" who attempts to do so will be punished.

So far, it has only participated in two major events on the scale of the whole nebula: joining the [[Alliance of Five]] and participating the [[War of The Broken Bow]], especially with the fight against the [[Void (Silky Way)|Void]].

==== [[Alliance of Five]] & Surrounding Minor Nations ====
Whilst it was an official member of the Alliance of Five, the Carremmat Ro'kasa can only be called a member by name, as it maintains barely lukewarm relations with the other powers, and it joined for protection from the other major powers collaborating together to kill them. Its participation within the early [[War of The Broken Bow]] was forced, not willing to join as it believed the war was a pointless waste of resources, and quickly backed out the Alliance after the neighboring [[Vauratin Empire]] experienced its coup by [[Rexir Asi]].

It was unfortunate enough to be the first nation to be attacked by the [[Void (Silky Way)|Void]], and with the destruction of the [[Iccobar System]] and its under-construction Matryoshka Brain, it was eager to sign the [[Treaty of Praxis]]. It proved to be a prolific member in the fight against the Void, its group-mind fleets clashing with the Voidspears with the same fiery determination held by the original Ro'kasan Defence Fleet all those centuries ago against ''their'' existential threat. A surprising amount of ships decided to join the [[Working Title Fleet]] lead by [[Su'uni Ash Nikal]],  aware of their inevitable fate in the upcoming [[Battle of the Colony]].

Nowadays, with a more tolerant Carremmat, it maintains decently cordial relations with every nation it knows of, even the minor ones surrounding it, such as the [[Verathan Civilization]] and the [[Xalayin Planetary Alliance]], albeit nobody knows if this would hold up.

==== [[Vernarcan Federation]] ====
The [[Vernarcan Federation]] is a military and economic federation of states over at the distant [[Vernarca Nebula]]. Their story would only begin to intertwine with the discovery of the [[Szalana Wormhole]], albeit it affected the Carremmat Ro'kasa the least amongst the major powers of the [[Apple Nebula]]. Whilst the [[Vauratin Empire]], [[Sovereignty of Erorum]], and the other more extreme nations were declaring the Federation to be an existential threat to their continued existence, the Carremmat took a backseat approach of letting them be, viewing it as one of the other major nations doing their own thing, albeit a bit nicer than their old neighbors.

This earned them the ire of the other major powers, especially adding fire to the brewing rivalry between it and the [[Sovereignty of Erorum]]. However, before that could have resulted in anything, the beginning of the ''proper'' [[War of the Broken Bow]] redirected the malcontent of the powers, as they decided that the "imperialist" Vernarcan Federation is the bigger threat compared to the cowardly Carremmat. 

Despite being assigned to deal with the [[Vernarca Nebula#Verda Stellar Neighborhood|Verda Stellar Neighborhood]], its participation on the invasion of the [[Vernarcan Federation]] can be considered lackluster, doing little more than the bare minimum set by the other members. It pulled back from the conflict as fast as it could, leaving its assigned area as soonas [[Rexir Asi]] did his coup. Unfortunately, it didn't spare them from the effects of the Praxis Plague, marking the first time the Collective was intentionally disrupted by an external force to such a degree.

Relations with the Vernarcan Federation warmed in the later War of the Broken Bow, as the Federation seemed to be as eager to fight against the Void as it was after the destruction of the Iccobar System and its under-construction Matryoshka Brain. It was one of the first Apple Nebula faction to throw its ships to the [[Vernarca Nebula]] to aid the fight against the [[Void (Silky Way)|Void]] and in quantities unheard of before, rivaling even that of the mighty warfleets of the [[Sovereignty of Erorum]] and pre-coup [[Vauratin Empire]]. Most surprisingly, it managed to get in the good graces of the ever-mysterious [[Obilehem Intelligence]], with a increased density of [[Firering Stations]] that moved from the [[Algor Cluster]] to their territories, lending them a heavy hand in their battle against the Void.

At present day, the Collective maintains cordial relations with the Vernarcan Federation, with an extra large diplomatic presence in the Vernarca Nebula, prolific trading agreements, and the other lucky faction to be gifted the privilege of open borders within Carremmat Territory, other than the [[Obilehem Intelligence]]. However, there remains a concerning trend amongst a sect of group-minds that reject the [[Vernarcan Federation]] as a worthy ally of the Collective and have attempted to sabotage relations. This "indecision" (as described by an ambassador of the Carremmat) has been growing over the course of the last two years, and some speculate that this "sect" ''could'' be the seed of a future Carremmat rebellion. No Ne'era "mind" has made a comment about this situation yet.

== Astrography ==
Like the other major [[Apple Nebula]] nations, the Carremmat Ro'kasa is a large nation, to say the least. Even being the second smallest former [[Alliance of Five]] member and after the [[Void (Silky Way)|Void]] deciding to pluck a few stars out of existence, the Carremmat Ro'kasa controls 306 stars, on par with the [[Falacian Dominion]] at it peak and roughly half the amount of stars in the modern day [[Vernarcan Federation]]. It mostly controls the Trailing Lobe, a small extension of stars 90° right of the galactic core, similar to its much larger western sibling, mostly controlled by the [[Sovereignty of Erorum]].

[[Dena'kau'da]] (roughly translating to All-Sea or World-Ocean) is the homeworld of the [[Var'kasa]] and the current capital of the Carremmat Ro'kasa. It is one of the few rogue planets that has habitable conditions, kept warm by its primordial heat of its formation and time orbiting a star and its incredibly thick atmosphere trapping much of the would-be escaping heat; producing a diverse ecosystem underneath the clouds. The rogue world experienced a minor mass extinction after the [[Hen'nelea Supernova]] and the following ones, wiping out around 10% of all species formerly present, and hasn't fully recovered, even to the modern day. 

However, this has not altered its importance to the Carremmat. What it lacks in sheer industrial capabilities, it more than makes up by its deep historical importance as the birthplace of both the Var'kasa and the Collective itself. The planet is mostly used as a host for thousands of computronium instillations, and its six minor moons as archives chronicling the history of the Var'kasa and the Carremmat Ro'kasa itself.

=== Neighboring Powers ===
The Carremmat Ro'kasa resides between the [[Vauratin Empire]] rimwards and the [[New Union of Xeriphas]] corewards, both major powers of the [[Apple Nebula]]. The minor nation of the [[Verathan Civilization]] resides fully within its territories, being one of the few enclave states that exists within the [[Apple Nebula]]. Sandwiched between it and its corewards neighbor lies the similarly minor [[Xalayin Planetary Alliance]]. Spinwards of its borders lies the [[Vernarcan Federation]]'s territory within the Apple Nebula, which used to be unclaimed territory before its arrival through the [[Szalana Wormhole]]. The direction anti-spinwards is nearly empty of stars and remains completely unclaimed by any nations, including the Carremmat.
