Overview
The FDS.12 Fuego Podría was a crawler developed by Ckaveratti-based arms company, Forja Del Sol. It was developed in response to increasing fears that should Hishimal fall in the event of a foreign invasion, Ckaveratt would be invaded through their northern, mountainous border.
The FDS.12 is equipped with a Berobreus Model 120mm smoothbore cannon, capable of firing Fin-stabilized kinetic penetrator rounds or chemical HEAT rounds. The gun sits next to the main chassis and is incapable of horizontal movement, but the entire turret is able to be rotated at high vertical angles. This layout allows for the Model 20 Autoloader to be installed. It is operated by a Crew of 3: a driver, gunner, and commander.
Technology & Design
The FDS.12 was developed to be mass-producible and cheap in order to make up for the sheer technological advantage that an invader may have, as such, the FDS.12's armor is only capable of dealing with heavy machine gun calibers (.50cal, 12.5mm...). This light armor, however, enables better stability with the hexapedal layout, as well as increased speed. The crawler is driven by a driver in the front of the chassis. Using a computer program, the legs can be moved in a sequence and change their heading based on input coming from sensors around the chassis. The driver uses two pedals: one for forward motion, and the other for backward motion. A pair of joysticks are installed in the seat's arm rests to control the heading of both sides of the legs to enable turning and maneuverability. On either side of the walls of the driver's compartment are sliding handles that control the elevation and angle of the vehicle by raising or lowering the legs.
Armaments
Berobreus Model 120mm Cannon
The FDS.12's main armament is a Berobreus Model 120mm Smoothbore gun. The cannon is capable of cycling between kinetic penetrator rounds or HEAT rounds. The rounds are stored in a gridded ammo basket in a 2-layered 4x5 pattern, totalling to a maximum of 40 rounds. The hoist assembly uses a series of motors and chains to move around and grab a shell, placing it in the firing chamber before sealing.
