Luna, first colonised in the 2030s, is Earth's closest companion and one of the richest rocky celestial bodies in hydrogen, an important pillar of rocketry during the 21st and 22nd centuries. It was an important stepping stone in Humanity's journey to colonising Mars and beyond; several cities now exist on Luna, although the bland scenery and lack of very helpful resources other than hydrogen make it unpopular for permanent residence. Luna's low gravity mean that those who choose to have permanent residence in the third era of space travel created families that have now evolved into very tall and weak variants of Humans, referred to as Lunarians.

Luna in 2930 is currently an industrialised world, comparable to Earth cities in the 19th century industrial age. Along with Mercury and the collective Asteroid Belt, much of the Sol system's materials are outsourced from Luna and are shipped to shipyards, docks, colonies and factories for processing and use. Luna also has its roots in history and makes money for the Lunarian government through tourism; thousands of people take ferries from Earth to see what remains of old spacecraft launched nearly a thousand years ago and the sunbleached flags left behind by long-gone pioneers.

Orbiting Luna are several stations, which regularly take passengers from around the solar system in. Interstellar vessels that arrive at Sol after decades of transit time are usually directed by flight controllers to Taylor Station, the largest space station in the Sol system, for cargo shipments and passengers to be relocated to other stations. With Taylor Station orbiting within Luna's L4 point, Interstellar vessels capable of little acceleration can easily maneuver into place for deportation of cargo and maintenance of the ship by a fleet of shuttles and repair craft.
