The SnowStorm Union, often referred to simply as "The Union," is an alliance system, political, and diplomatic body originating within the Edelweiss Galaxy, specifically in the Tengri system. The Union operates as an Alliance of Socialist Republics, with elected secretaries representing their systems in the Voice of the Union Assembly. True to its motto, the Union "orbits no one, solely itself."

Founding and Ideology

The Union was officially established in the early 26th Century within the Edelweiss Galaxy. It portrays itself as a bastion of socialism in a new frontier, reestablishing human society free from the perceived flaws of previous regimes. Rejecting the "illusional democracy" of the United Sol Command, the incompetence of the Scientific Assembly, and the radical inefficiency of the Federal States, the Union set out to craft a system it believed would embody the collective will of the people.

Despite its idealistic ethos, the Assembly often struggles to reach mutual agreement on key matters, frequently leading to dictatorial unilateral decision-making by the General Secretary. The current General Secretary is Gerard Aghaius, a former militant of the United Sol Command.

Origin Story

The Union emerged after a dramatic turn of events when the Milky Way's Bridge tunnel to the Edelweiss Galaxy was unexpectedly shut down. This severed all supply and communication lines to the newly established Colony of Expedition Group 17, leaving the settlers stranded on a stormy planet covered in perpetual snow and ice.

This planet, located between two ringed gas giants rich in basic materials, became their new home. The settlers named their collective SnowStorm in honor of its harsh environment, which mirrored their collective struggle for survival. Over time, the Union came to symbolize their unified goal of overcoming adversity in an alien galaxy, cut off from their origins.

Ethos and Survival

The Union’s ethos is centered on forming a new human civilization, starting from a "blank page" and striving to learn from the failures of past regimes. Their resource-gathering process was limited by their equipment: just three mining shuttles brought together from other expeditions that joined their cause. The gas giants provided essential materials for sustaining life, while the snowy planet, nicknamed Wolf Totem for its resemblance to a wolf figurine, became a symbol of resilience.

Interestingly, despite wolves being largely unfamiliar to 26th-century society, the settlers viewed the planet as a protective figure that "adopted her new guests under her fur."

The Sober Voyager

The settlers fondly remember their first megaship, nicknamed Sober Voyager, which brought the expeditionary crew to the Edelweiss Galaxy. The ship played a heroic role in defending the colony from a mercenary syndicate that had overtaken a Megatron-Class Hauler during the chaotic Bridge shutdown.

Using the disassembled parts of the Sober Voyager and brought Space Station from Sambiel Void’s outpost Veayu Port, the expeditionary crew began constructing a space station in the Albus Stellar Lagrangian Cloud. This station, though modest compared to the sprawling cities of the Milky Way, served as a vital hub for the fledgling Union.
