Description
Template:NEW Conflict Template! The War for All (Commonly called The Fourth Intergalactic War, The Invasion, or The War of Last Resorts) was a massive universal war that lasted for over 10000 years. (between 184367 CE to 195372 CE.) The vast majority of the universe's nations, including the full force of The Galactic Counsel, united against the extra-universal threat that is The Seekers.
This war is commonly cited as the most destructive war in the history of the universe. The War for All claimed the countless lives of many organisms, and what seems like even more ships. The economic damage from the war was also horrendous, something that the universal economy hasn't even fully recovered from.
Preface
If we want to know about why The War for All first started, we have to go back. way back. All the way back to 175000 CE.
The War for All had its roots when The Seekers were testing a cross-universal device millennia prior. At the time, The Seekers were not very paranoid about extra-universal invaders themselves, and decided that it was best for them to spread. By then, they were a large force in their universe, and shared it with about 4 other empires who still exist to this day. These empires are:
- The Elite Nora
- Sowa Republic
- The Araxis Confederation
- The Suralis Pact
The other four empires know about our universe, but have made no moves to invade it. Contact has been made with all, and they are quite stagnant as of 200000 CE.
The other four empires mostly described us as 'young', or 'on the way to a path of greatness', seeing us as perhaps younger versions of themselves, they opted out of combat when The Seekers asked for small amounts of aid.
In general, all 5 main nations of their universe lived in harmony. They induced checks and balances upon each other, and mostly stayed away from conflict.
The five nations decided that it was best to spread out through a theorized multiverse. If they could channel enough energy to create a massive long-distance wormhole, they thought that it would hit other universes. And so, the conquest began. The Seekers were the main brawn of the project, finding useful shortcuts, and checking for any errors. The other four empires, most notably The Suralis Pact, tested the new theory regularly.
The Beginning of Multiverse Travel
By 180000 CE, The 5 nations had almost cracked the code. They had officially sent probes and test subjects to the other side, captured photographs, and were almost ready to send colonists. They saw that the other universes they saw were mainly empty, and depleted of resources, for some reason. This didn't deter them from reaching their final goal in 180137 CE, though. By then, The Seekers had successfully found an acceptable universe for which colonization was possible.
By 180250 CE, the 5 nations of their universe had expanded to an average of 0.2 other universes. The explorations of many others saw that they were very empty, and resource deficient. contained a meager amount of small civilizations that they could simply ignore. All in all, an advanced civilization was very hard to come by. In fact, the only above Type-III civilization seen at that point was discovered by The Sowa Republic. They saw a small Type-IV civilization, and contacted it to minimal avail. So much for any form of hopes, then.
This discovery sparked a few hypotheses. The most theory one was that they were very alone, and perhaps insanely lucky for the amount of resources they had. They thought that these new universes were just not enough to sustain them, yet they still kept exploring, for the small amounts of hope still drove them.
That was until around 180300 CE, where The Elite Nora fine-tuned their Universe Portals. They discovered that on a few certain settings, you could find mineral-rich universes, that had a small amount of empires in it. As soon as this discovery was made, everyone, especially The Seekers, opted in for this new change. No longer would they be confined to a small bubble. They would expand, and harmlessly take over universes, while respecting the infant civilizations they would come across. Or so they thought.
The Discovery
If we want to see any other interesting events, we have to skip forward around three thousand years. By 183000 CE, The Seekers and their allies had a large amount of universes under their belt. Expansion was endless, and essentially required for the next step in their evolution. After setting up shop in a few local universes, they saw a few very rich universes on their journey, containing materials and organisms hitherto unseen. A few of these include:
- Strange Matter
- Psionic Matter
- Shroud Material
- A.I. Civilizations
- Towering alien ruins
- Strange Stars
- Natural Wormholes
This brand new discovery shocked all five empires, who saw nothing alike it in their time of existence. They marveled at the fact that A.I's can make their own empires, peacefully or not. They were in shock and awe at the vast amount of untapped strange matter and shroud matter that existed seemingly under their noses. These new universes were jackpots, treasure troves, a recipe to become a Type-Omega civilization. This was the key to greatness.
At once, all 5 empires decided that it was best to team up and harvest all of these materials using special Harvester Ships. These would search for any traces of special matter, and send a transmission to the main operatives base that it was there. Quite simple in retrospect, but it succeeded greatly.
As a result of these new materials being discovered, The Seekers took great delight in a new plan. This new plan stated that all five empires could team up, colonizing countless universes, and giving the young empires in them their own space. Their own bubbles of utopia. A win-win scenario, The Seekers thought. The 5 nations would endlessly expand, faster and faster, for they were the greatest, most sublime empires to exist. If any other major empires were detected, they would be uplifted, and they would join the great effort that was multiversal travel.
Surveying/Plans
By 183891 CE, The Seekers discovered traces of our universe. Like always, they set up a Universe Portal, and listened in for any resources. They saw that our universe had a plentiful amount of resources, seemingly another golden universe to add to their collection. It was the perfect candidate for the Seekers to colonize, and so The Seekers began sending many probes into our universe to explore it.
The probes found that our universe was very odd. There seemed to be many structures around stars, with countless small ships everywhere! As it turns out, the ran into The Supreme and they noted that this newly discovered empire must control multiple galaxies for their armada size. Nearby, in the same galaxy, they discovered DELYATU. They assumed that A.I. empires would be quite common in our universe because of their proximity. Many theories came in, which supposed that this universe had a few large empires in it. Well, with all of the resources available in the universe, it would make sense for bigger empires to exist. So, the crew just noted it, and set their destination to be somewhere else, as to not bother the empire they discovered. Well, they found more ships. These ones were larger, and more ornate in design. They stumbled upon The Commonwealth this time.
Suggestions for the existence of even larger empires came in, and The Seekers determined that this new universe had at least one Type-VII civilization in it, which was a brand new occurrence. They devised many plans on how to help us out, uplift us, enslave us, or just leave us alone. All of those plans died in vain, as they discovered entire galaxies made out of shroud matter. What bad would invading a few lesser empires do to them? The winnings would outweigh the costs.
First Hints
In 184001 CE, countless harvester ships and surveying drones entered our universe. They were concentrated on the resource-efficient parts of our universe, and in the local group. The ships spread throughout the galaxies, and began to dismantle planets and stars for resources. The Seekers thought that our universe was just another one in the list of utopias they could establish, what they could do to perhaps experiment with the young civilizations, giving them godhood, as well.
The Seekers immediately established an outpost near a CoH colony, and did not count for the fact that there were living organisms on the planet. They sent in a harvester ship, which extracted resources at rapid rates. The planet underwent a colossal earthquake event, and the inhabitants called for help.
The Confederacy of Humanity saw these strange new ships go back and forth between planets, and many mysterious wormholes open up nearby them. These new wormholes and ships contained countless amounts of power, and they were immediately given a Threat Level of IX, and an Anomaly level of X. As soon as the sightings of these were confirmed, The CoH steadily approached these new ships, and tried to communicate with them. Here are the Communications logs below.
Communications Log, The Confederacy (#001)
Confederacy: Unauthorized ship, halt at once! You are under custody of The Confederacy. Anything you say will be used against you in court. You will stop destroying our colonies right now.
The Seekers: Hello, new organism. There is no need to be hostile. We have discovered your universe and have detected countless amounts of valuable resources. These mean much more to us than it means to you. Stand back or you will be annihilated.
The Confederacy: What do you mean? You came here on our territory. You have no rights to this planet, and you are killing thousands of people! Stop this or we will call for backup right now!
The Seekers: You overprotective children. If you attack us, nothing will stop the onslaught of countless ships going through that wormhole. You will start an exodus, a short-lived battle to end your aggressive race. We promise many things if you let us be. godhood, omnipotence, the chance to join our conquest to reach to the limits of what is possible, and what is fantasy. If you attack us, those promises will be in vain.
The Confederacy: We do not accept bribes! You are murdering many people with their own loves, their own careers, children, even! Stop your attack on our worlds, and we will talk.
The Seekers: Affirmative, discussions will happen once we extract the Shroud Matter from this world.
The Confederacy: Wait, Shroud Matter? Are you affiliated with psionics?
The Seekers: Heavily. It seems you know about The Shroud as well. As you see, barely anyone in your universe is entirely unique, we have seen many smaller civilizations with attributes much similar to yours. Shall we talk, or trade? It seems you have lots of Shroud matter we could use.
The Confederacy: Just pay for the lives you took, and we will discuss other matters.
The Seekers: Deal.
After The Seekers finished taking all Shroud Matter from the planet, they went to the surface and took as much colonist DNA with them as they could, and somehow replicated 99.9972% of all lost people down to the atom. The planet was fixed, the colonists were put pack, and discussions later began. How could things go wrong? Well...
