== Overview == |
Alpha Centauri, also known as Rigel Kentaurus, is a trinary system that is located at 4.26 light years from [[Sol]]. It hosts three stars, Alpha Centauri A and B, both main sequence stars, as well as a third star, Proxima Centauri, a red dwarf star, which lies about 0.2 light years from the two main stars. Its orbit around the binary system takes 550,000 years. |

== Alpha Centauri A == |
It is a G2-type main-sequence star, similar to Sol. It is the home system of humans, and the [[Navi]]. This star has 9 planets. Arcturus, Beta, Cygnus, Pegasus, Nibiru, Telgard, Sinus, Oracus, [[Polyphemus]], and a couple of dwarf planets. It also has an asteroid belt and a comet belt. |
== Alpha Centauri B == |
It is a G7-type main-sequence star, similiar to Sol. This star has 7 planets. Alpha, Einstein, Prithvi, Edway, Kepler, Darwin and Asgard. It has an asteroid belt and a comet belt. |
== Proxima Centauri == |
Proxima Centauri is an M6Ve type red-dwarf star. The star has only one planet, a large rocky terrestirla within the star's biozone. |
== History == |
Alpha Centauri was well known by Greek and Indian scientists. It was thought to be a single star, but in 1915 it was declared a trinary system. A mission to Alpha Centauri started in 2074. The mission consisted of two probes that were to visit Alpha Centauri A and B. The space probes found microscopic life on one of the planets around the stars. It also found three candidates for terraforming. Manned missions started in 2076. The planets were named after famous scientists. More info soon........ |
