Overview

The Mutation Protocol is a multi-creator analog horror series created on December 18th, 2024 set in an alternate 1960s focusing on a pre-apocalyptic Earth ravaged by environmental collapse, flawed bioengineering, and societal decay. It blends science fiction, body horror, and speculative evolution, utilizing mediums like videos, art, and narrative writing. Creators explore themes of human desperation, evolution, and survival against a backdrop of global scientific experimentation gone wrong. The project encourages world-building, collaboration, and expanding the lore to create a shared dark universe.

Setting

The Mutation Protocol Series takes place in an alternate 1960s on a dying Earth, where global powers launch the Mutation Protocol in a desperate attempt to accelerate human and animal evolution to survive. Rooted in emerging discoveries of bio-fields and speculative quantum research, the Mutation Protocol utilized controlled releases of Darwin Radiation, a mutagenic technology designed to manipulate genetic evolution. However, these efforts proved disastrously flawed, producing horrific mutations, widespread death, and societal collapse. The world, already ravaged by economic decline, constant war, pollution, and environmental disasters, saw the once-hopeful mutants become tragic failures or tools of power. As society spirals into chaos, governments and factions scramble for control while the planet continues to degrade. The apocalypse has not fully arrived, but with only 1.5 billion survivors remaining (from 3 billion), it’s clear humanity’s survival is no longer guaranteed
