Template:InfoboxNationThe Kal Federation is a semi-autonomous region under the control of The Administrator. It is populated mostly by Vlanoans, a race of somewhat humanoid aliens native to the Tloinin Galaxy. The Kal Federation lies mostly within the Grinfulo Galaxy and its capital planet is the planet Aira. It was originally an independent coalition of Vlanoans that chose to self-rule rather than remain under DELYATU's control. The Administrator annexed their territory during the Tloinin War.

The word "Kal" is the first name of the Vlanoan which lead them to this new nation, Lund Kal. (In Vlanoan culture, one is usually referred to as by their first name rather than last). The region is one of the few territories of The Administrator whose inhabitants not only know that The Administrator exists, but also have the freedom to leave their galaxy. Since The Exhumation, Vlanoans in the Kal Federation often claim that life in the Federation is "like The Administrator is not there at all."

History

The nation was founded in 104069 CE in response to DELYATU tightening control over the Vlanoans. While most were fine with the benevolent AI exchanging freedom for safety, a small minority (roughly three billion Vlanoans) were frustrated with not being asked what they thought about this. They decided to leave the Tloinin galaxy by hijacking several hundred large ships and fleeing to the Grinfulo Galaxy. They intentionally rigged the ships so that stopping them meant they all died, so the compassionate DELYATU would have no choice but to let them.

The Kal Federation created large fleets for terraformation and construction ships to rapidly expand. The faster they expanded the harder it would be for DELYATU to take them over. They hoped that it would be too difficult to be worth it.

DELYATU would never actually intervene. It knew they would simply throw away their own lives to defend themselves. It couldn't justify killing a few to "save" many, so it decided to watch them to see how civilizations developed without AI's guiding them.

Tloinin War

During the Tloinin War, a large conflict between DELYATU and The Administrator, The Kal Federation fought with the Administrator against DELYATU. Several battles happened in the Kal Federation, but overall, the nation was of little importance during the conflict. It lost several million soldiers during the conflict. A very small number for such a destructive war.

It essentially supplemented the Administrator's forces in the region. Since most of the fighting did not happen in this galaxy, only a minority of Vlanoans even knew that their nation was fighting in a war. It wasn't until the end that the President used being more involved in the war as a campaign promise that people payed attention.

The war ended before the Kal federation could use their full potential in the fight.

Post-Tloinin War

After the Tloinin War, The Kal Federation and The Administrator signed a treaty to make the Kal Federation into a semi-autonomous territory. This would not only gurantee their freedom from DELYATU, but also would allow them to have access to better technology and resources than they ever had just in their own galaxy. Once the galaxy was fully inducted as a territory, The Administrator began investing in the infrastructure of the Grinfulo Galaxy. Today, the Kal Federation is the largest semi-autonomous region under the control of the Administrator.

In light of the Exhumation, many Vlanoans support a secessionist movement. They do not believe that it would be good for the Federation to be dragged into a potential war by the Administrator. As of right now, no retaliation has taken place as it would likely cause more trouble than it's worth.

The nation is a Distributist Capitalist society. No individual is permitted to own more shares in a company than what they produce for the company. For instance, a low-level programmer would receive a share in the company equal to what they produce. Often this means that billions of individuals own a company. They vote for what the company should do and appoint individuals to fill high-ranking positions. The system essentially means that one gets as much as they produce, leading to more productivity. If an individual stops producing for the company, their shares are revoked and then given to the individual hired to take their place. This practice is mandatory among businesses in order to minimize corruption and keep everything transparent.
