Glitter Territories

Overview

The Glitter Territories, sometimes referred to as the Triangulum Confederation, is a vast Early Type-III intergalactic civilization spanning three galaxies within the Local Group. It was originally formed by the Katoxyn and the Uathyn after their first contact in 4029 CE. Beginning as an alliance of their native star system, the invention of Warp Drive allowed them to rapidly expand, colonizing and terraforming neighboring systems to suit their needs.

The Glitter Territories is an influential member of the CUEN, despite its small size relative to other intergalactic civilizations. It maintains strong diplomatic ties with the Lowzyol Federation (LZF) and the Federations of United Star Systems (FUSS), advocating for ethical governance and cooperative expansion.

Government & Society

The Glitter Territories functions as a parliamentarian democratic market socialist republic. Despite being considered a form of true socialism by human historians, its membership within the CUEN was granted due to its peaceful nature and expansive freedom of speech. Its governing body consists of a vast council, with two representatives from each species holding an elected seat within the House.

Due to the immense diversity within its civilization, the government follows a non-interventionist policy, allowing individual planets to govern themselves with minimal interference. However, intervention is mandated if there is a threat of genocide or if galactic stability is compromised.

The Glitter Territories maintains an interstellar navy on par with the Confederacy of Borealis, ensuring the protection of its territories and trade networks. Currently, it is petitioning for membership in the Confederacy of Borealis, seeking closer ties with the dominant human civilization.

History

Pre-Foundation

The Uathyn achieved sentience 390,000 years ago, originating in the oceans of their homeworld. Early Uathyn societies were composed of rivaling tribes, competing for dominance over resources. However, pacifist tribes eventually formed coalitions, fostering a belief system that prioritized unity as the only path to peace.

As they advanced, the Uathyn made first contact with the Katoxyn in 4029 CE, sparking the foundation of the Glitter Territories. The term Glitter in their language refers to their native Triangulum Galaxy, making the full name of their civilization "Lands of the Glitter."

Expansion & Growth

Initially composed of two species, the Territories expanded rapidly, negotiating treaties and colonizing new systems. With further expansion, more species—including the Xentari—joined the government, seeking better conditions under its rule.

By 2580 CE, the Uathynese Union—the predecessor state to the Glitter Territories—collapsed into civil war, as conflicts between native and alien populations intensified. The resulting reformation gave birth to the current Glitter Territories, which remains one of the most politically stable civilizations in the Local Group.

Diplomacy & Foreign Relations

The Glitter Territories is a high-ranking member of the CUEN, advocating for intergalactic cooperation and economic development. It has close ties with both the Lowzyol Federation (LZF) and the Federations of United Star Systems (FUSS), both of which are considered key allies.

Despite its small size relative to other Type-III civilizations, it seeks to expand morally rather than militarily, focusing on diplomatic efforts and the betterment of its inhabitants.
