Technoscientific Concepts

  • Gephyrion: A subatomic particle constituting the boundary between the physical universe and a parallel version of the latter, known as a subspace. Gephyrions are present in every physical atom and are divided into three one-dimensional strings called "D-strings," each corresponding to a spatial dimension. From the physical universe, assembling or disassembling gephyrions can respectively close or open portals to subspace.
  • Gephyrion Manipulator: A device that can assemble and/or disassemble gephyrions. They are universally used for superluminal travel and communications.
  • Subspace: A spatially compressed version of the physical universe. As a result of shorter distances, the speed of light, in relation to that of the physical universe, is faster in subspace.

Locations

Galaxies

  • Milky Way: A massive spiral galaxy in the Local Group. It is second in size to Andromeda, a fellow spiral galaxy in the same conglomerate of galaxies.
  • Large Magellanic Cloud: The largest of the Milky Way's satellite galaxies, located close to the Small Magellanic Cloud.
  • Small Magellanic Cloud: The Milky Way's second-largest satellite galaxy.
  • Andromeda: The largest galaxy in the Local Group.

Andromeda is a decorative background galaxy, not accounting for a setting within The Lone Horizon.
