Overview
The Alls-Rule War', also known as the "East-West War,"the "Cardinal War," and the "War of the World," is the longest-lasted conflict in recorded history, lasting from the years 2,870 YM to 2,970 YM. Waged by both the Westland Empire of Bariquel, and the Eastern Union of Rahmiel — alongside every major power of both the Aquatic and Abyssal Worlds; it stands alone as the single-most devastating conflict of all time, by measure of lives lost; killing an uncountable number of men, women, and children across every corner of the Known World. The repercussions of the Alls-Rule War remain an overhanging shadow across the land and sea, as all world events going forward were colored — at least in part — as direct consequence of its waging.
Although often collectively referred to as a singular conflict, the Alls-Rule War encompassed hundreds — if not thousands — of individual engagements reaching the level of wars in their own right, fought between various factions that varied widely by region. It is generally accepted that these respective conflicts share a common genesis in the assassination of Rythven Darkfang; then Supreme Chancellor of the Eastern Union, in 2,869 YM, shortly after his swearing into office.
