Dunacia

From Amaranth Legacy, available at amaranth-legacy.community

"Across a Sea of Endless Stars..."

"I can't believe just how... Barren this place is. No life, no cities, just haunting desolation. The endless crimson plains, with no hills or mountains in sight. The howls of the wind as it races through the wastes, unheard by everyone else. The vast rings looming in the ochre sky. It's surreal..."

The desolate planet of Dunacia was colonized shortly after the construction of Eventide on Twilight in order to harvest the materials in its rings, and succeeding geographical surveys led to the discovery of sparse high-value resource deposits across the planet. Ever since, dozens of extraction sites have been constructed across the barren landscapes of Dunacia, operated by robotic laborers and overseen by select workers.

The rusty, slightly crimson coloration of the planet is caused by the presence of iron particles in the thin layer of regolith that blankets the greater part of the planet's surface. As a geologically inactive world, the landscape of Dunacia is nearly entirely flat, sparsely interspersed by rocky hills and inert volcanoes. Moreover, a dense atmosphere of carbon dioxide blankets the planet, resulting in the temperatures staying at roughly negative ninety degrees on average.

Miscellaneous

Trivia

  • Dunacia endured a planetary collision a billion years ago, leading to the formation of its rings.
  • Great dust storms ravage the lands of Dunacia and can last for over a month.
  • Thirty two extraction sites have been established across Dunacia's landscapes.
  • Five years ago, a cave-in resulted in the near-destruction of an extraction site at the planet's north pole.
