By the time you are reading this document, it is too late to turn back. You have already exited the realm of the Normal and approached the Weird. Your cooperation is now mandatory.

Welcome to the Veil

The Foundation for the Preservation of the Veil of Secrecy, or FP-VoS (occasionally metonymously the Veil of Secrecy, VOS, or Veil,) is an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1999, dedicated to preventing knowledge about the Weird (i.e. the paranormal, preternatural, supernatural, or otherwise anomalous) from becoming known to the wider world, especially to world powers. Internally, it is simply the Foundation. Its formation was expedited by VS-0000 "Y2K," the details of which shall not be disclosed. Make yourself familiar to the disappointment of secrecy; it is for your security as much as ours.

We are best described as a counterintelligence organization of the highest caliber. If knowledge of the Weird were to become widespread, it would result in a Fall of Man scenario; to put it simply: ending all you know and care about. We tell you this because we know you have learned too much to turn back. The most rational move for you to take would be to sign only the confidentiality agreements in this folder, return it to us, forget about what you have witnessed, and avoid the Weird at all costs; however, rationality is best left to the Normal, to which you no longer have a guarantee.

This is the reason for the other forms. They are Associate's Initiation Documents. What is contained in your folder will be specific to your own skills, personality, and history. They are calibrated for the purpose of ensuring amicable relations between yourself and the Veil. Your role as an Associate will suit you, should you choose to accept it. Should you not, the Foundation's interaction with you shall remain typical of our interaction with the ignorant public. Do not attempt to disclose any of the information in this document or its folder. You will be taken for a fool, a conspiracy theorist, the spreader of a hoax, or worse, whether or not we intervene.

Whether you wish to avoid or seek out the Weird, your cooperation with the Foundation will be necessary in both of our goals. We will protect you on the condition of your silence. Should you become an Associate, you may be privy to certain classified information, and may, under certain circumstances, have the opportunity to learn more, if you prove worth promotion. Any transgressions, however, and you will be left alone. This is not a salutary neglect.
