The Stingray-Class Interceptor, more commonly known as the S-1, is an interceptor mass-produced by Ceres ShipYards under United Sol Command. It is one of the more widespread spacecraft within the Emerald SpecNaz, with over five hundred thousand built ever since. The sleek and aerodynamic shape of the Stingray-Class Interceptor, shaped like a stingray, from which it got its name, has proven to be one of the most efficient ship designs of the present day. Considering their rather small size, Stingray-Class Interceptors are almost never used as one's main ship. Instead, they are held in the fighter bays of larger ships.
The Stingray is a formidable combat ship, even able to hold its ground against far larger spaceships. Its combination of deadly weaponry, manueverablity, and speed makes it a deadly opponent to any spacecraft. Nonetheless, it is lacking in the Anti-de Sitter Drive, making it a short-range fighter. The Stingray-Class Interceptor is provided by Request to trusted groups of the Specnaz, making it a good entry-level ship as well as a decent vessel for even the amataeur recruits of the SpecNaz.
Stingrays are typically carried within hangars of Tenno-Class Corvette, due to its size, Corvette manages to fit nearly 75 of battle-ready stingrays.
Design
The Stingray-Class Interceptor is a tiny ship with a length of around fifteen meters. Its wingspan, however, is more than twice as long. The Stingray-Class Interceptor's wings have a striking resemblance to that of a stingray, the design of which greatly improves the ship's performance in atmospheric conditions. The cockpit of the Stingray-Class Interceptor is extremely small, with just one person able to squeeze within. The controls and buttons are also a bit cramped. The Stingray-Class Interceptor has only two rooms on the inside, one for long-term residence and the other for storage, however it does not hold much.
Technological Performance
On the back of the Stingray-Class Interceptor are two medium-sized Jackson-Drives thrusters fueled by Hydrogen. With its fuel hold, the Stingray-Class Interceptor can only achieve speeds of 15,000 km/s. Regardless, the Stingray is one of the fastest ships on the market, capable of reaching speeds of 1000 kilometers per second in less than six seconds. In addition, the thrusters may operate in afterburner mode, which is a feature typical on ships of this size. The Stingray-Class Interceptor lacks any sort of jump capabilities, which causes some pilots to disdain it.
The Stingray-Class Interceptor has a powerful arsenal of weapons that can make even the largest ships flee in terror. Four multicanonns are mounted on its front, which are particularly efficient against hostile hull. Below deck, two autocannons and homing missile launchers will wreak havoc on the adversary ship's corpuse. All of these weapons are retractable, allowing the Stingray to function even better in the atmosphere.
Variants
- Eliminator - The Eliminator variant of the Stingray-Class Interceptor includes four homing missile launchers in contrast to the two of the base model.
- Defender - The Defender variant of the Stingray was experimental model in attempt to fit the MagnetoShield generator in such tiny sizes.
