Lumi is a sparsely populated icy body encircling the ice giant Talv in the barren outskirts of the Tythel system in Midonia. It is largely made up of silicate rocks and enveloped by a crust of water ice. Deep beneath the surface lies a subglacial ocean harboring microbial life near undersea thermal vents. In orbit, Lumi appears as a white, slightly blue marble, interspersed by striking, darker lineae that stretch across the landscape. The gravitational pull of Talv has largely guarded Lumi against asteroid strikes, and subsequently, impact craters are sparse.
The inhabiting people live in vast, open cityscapes dug deep into the ice in order to protect against radiation. Sturdy, pressure-resistant mining sites have been constructed across Lumi's desolate subglacial ocean, excavating rare metallic ores to be processed in refineries built in the urban centers.
Infrastructure
Lumi's population resides in several vast cityscapes excavated into the frozen terrain around the northern hemisphere, the ice acting as a cheap yet effective protection against solar radiation. They are constructed vertically and feature large, open spaces in order to prevent generational claustrophobia. Additionally, flourishing parks have been constructed in every city, inhabited by countless Kai Särav species, bringing a semblance of nature to an otherwise lifeless environment.
