Humans (Cosmoria)

Template:!SpeciesHumans (Homo Sapiens Sapiens) are a species of carbon-based bipedal humanoids, originating from the planet Aegyn. Humans are primarily located in Via Aylathiya, the Galaxies forming Herschel Space (aka: the Lewis, Iskadi, Kevenam, and Rodaun galaxies), and the Ventemir Galaxy, with presence as well in many of the satellites accompanying these galaxies. Humans are most commonly known for their expansionist attitude, which has propelled them to garner a lot of influence in the intergalactic stage. Compared to other species, Humans can often be xenophobic and hostile while also having an easy time undergoing "dehumanization," the process by which another tribe or group is no longer considered Human. Many species, particularly in the first part of their interstellar history, were avoidant or distrustful of humans.
Humans are bipedal vertebrates with a tough endoskeleton composed of protein strengthened by calcium compounds. Their brains and the majority of their sensory organs reside in a case of bone resting atop their shoulders. On their two arms and two legs are generally five digits, although some populations have six. Humans, while originally having large amounts of hair, have lost the majority of their hair as they evolved, with most of it remaining on the head and crotch, with certain, usually male, individuals having large amounts of hair across the rest of the face and body.
Features
Humans metabolize organic carbon-based compounds using oxygen as the principle electron-acceptor in this metabolism. They use water as their solvent and their internal fluid is slightly basic compared to pure water. Other prominent elements include nitrogen and phosphorous as both are used in abundance in their double-helixed genetic material known as DNA.
Generally, Humans are a bidepal species that range in heights from 1.5 - 2.2 meters (although some may result in abnormally different heights from genetic defects), with 2 legs used for motion and 2 arms, each with hands that generally possess 5 digits used for grasping and using tools, their main advantage in natural settings. Humans have natural fibers, or hairs that extend from the top of their skull and the skin of their body, used as heat insulation, and is also used as a form of fashion. They have 2 eyes with pupils that come in a range colors such as green, brown, hazel or blue (colors can be changed by genetic modification or by using colored lenses) used as sight, and a nose set slightly below and between these eyes which is used as a sensor for smelling and for breathing.
History
Humans first evolved on Aegyn in about 300,000 BCE. They emerged before any nation had full control over Via Aylathiya. They remained as a pre-technological species until about 32,700 BCE, when they entered the iron age. Several hundreds years afterwards, in 31,812 BCE, they advanced enough to become space-faring. Shortly thereafter, Triumvirate Civilization logged humans as official subjects and would fully incorporate them by the time they began seriously contemplating the idea of extraterrestrial life.
When the Triumvirate civilization reformed in 15,089 CE, humans had the opportunity to create a largely self-governing state within the newly federalized Triumvirate. The humans formed the Yohjan Confederacy, the only democracy within the Triumvirate. This state soon became the largest in the galaxy. Others in the galaxy began to rally against humans due to the threat they posed. Conflicts over territory, religious differences, expansionist policies, and dozens of other factors caused the War of the Final Transition to begin, plunging the galaxy into millennia-long conflict. At the end of the war, the Confederacy split, as did most other powers in the galaxy. After the war, humans spread out to many places across the universe.
Humans became a major presence around the same time in the early 20,000s. Additionally, Sagittarium, Martial Space, and Herschel Space, some of the regions most dominated or influenced by Humanity in the universe, formed shortly after the turn of the 21st millennium. The 20,000s were undoubtedly what many historians call the "Era of Humans" especially as their nations became the most powerful not only in their galaxy but in the universe. For a time, the vast majority of galactic-level nations were human. This ended as other species began to once again rival humanity, in particular the Timporians, Aldorians, and Atlins.
To this day humans remain a highly influential species, with significant populations in every galaxy save for the Florathel Galaxy and its satellites.
