While these words were meant only for the first landing on earth's moon, but can be applied to many events in humanity's history. a little-talked-time period where many advances were made, known as "The First Renaissance", has had plenty of these events. from the first aliens met to the first time humans left the galaxy, this 6000-year period is packed with interesting events!

The beginnings
the first thing humans did after inventing the warp drive around 2000, enabling travel to other stars, was to claim large groups of territory. this was a smart move, as many races that do not claim large portions of the galaxy find themselves claimed by others first, and more often then not they are conquered.
The first contact with extrasolar alien life occurred in 2404, when a survey drone discovered an oceanic planet with microbes living near the surface. the first signs of extrasolar intelligent life was discovered in 2435, where a human colony ship reported an abandoned outpost, later identified to be built by The Precursors, while on its way to a faraway star.
The First Aliens
for over 300 years, there were no signs of alien empire. that all changed in 2831, when a lost survey ship stumbled apon a Dyson sphere. after closer inspection, they were contacted by the Zythyns, a race of reptilian/arthropod mix aliens of vastly superior technology. within a hundred years after this first contact, the Humans and Zythryns made an alliance.
The Community
soon after being contacted by the Zythyns, the Tygrin, a 2000-year-old space civilization, contacted the humans and declared war. It turns out that when the Zythryns colonized the galaxy, they had traded with the Tygrin. when a large amount of Tygrin trade ships left with stolen goods and their leader refused to answer for the act, the Zythyns declared war, thinking they would quash the newer, weaker Tygrin empire like ants. the Tygrin had proven themselves capable fighters, and held out against the Zythyns. seeing an opportunity to catch the Zythrins by surprise and invading the Zythyn colonial capital, the Tygrins declared war on the humans. they intended to take the newly-created empire's territory and fly through it to open up a new front against the Zythyns.
The Zythyns, having hearing the plan, gave several warships to the humans to defend themselves. most were sent to the frontline against the Tygrin, but others were reverse-engineered to created hundreds of various ship classes. this war will be explained in better detail in the Tygrin Invasion.
other empires soon contacted the humans. first, the Kingdom Of Evalrion, a trading nation, contacted the humans. next, the crumbling First Galactic Empire in the core contacted them. the Pirate Alliance came next, finally The Precursors contacted the humans
The Situation
the humans looked like the most unlikely race to ever emerge as a galactic superpower. surrounded by three stronger empires with nowhere to expand, their situation looked dire. thanks to the Human-Zythyn war in 5842. the humans were able to secure a border with the Pirate alliance, who were entirely conquered by the humans in the Renaissance Conflicts. the final conflict of the renaissance was the Great Galactic War in 9483.
The End Of An Era
after the humans grew powerful enough, colonization of other galaxies moved from just establishing minor outposts on the edge of galaxies to building worlds full of billions of people, contacting empire after empire. this, coupled with the rise of several small empires in the milky way that could threaten the human's capital regions, lead to the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Galactic Migration.
