Aiytr is a Void Island, currently located in the South-West fringes of Vetrarsaer, and close to the Diamond Wake. It resides on the edges of the galaxy, along the Starless Abyss, beyond the Sky River.

A world utterly hostile to off-world life, it served primarily a military outpost for the Flygia Riki's military, observing the generation-ship descended Elvendritch, as they annexed worlds along the rim. Large numbers of Kin found themselves stranded on Aiytr following the Technopocalypse. It was settled not out of choice, but sheer necessity, as every world around it offered far worse odds of survival.

When it became clear that the Flygia Riki had collapsed, internal strife ravaged the settlements, resulting in intense civil wars. At the same time, the Voidsea was rapidly changing around them, resulting in many new forms of Xenos arriving, and deciding that Aiytr would be an easy target. This life of war eventually gave birth to the Death Breathers of Aiytr, who specialised in waging wars of attrition in the most hostile environments imaginable.

Despite it's many disadvantages and difficulties, Aiytr went on to become a Voidsea faring society, establishing many colonies along the rim, in what would become known as the Realm of Toxins. It was frequently dragged into conflict with the Noktus Imperium. The Realm of Toxins eventually made contact with the Cosmic Union, whom they eventually joined with. The battlefield around the Realm, and Aiytr, is called the Toxic Front.

Aiytr is often seen as a vctim of circumstances by the wider Cosmic Union, but the world is also looked upon with a high degree of respect - By sheer force of will, they have survived an incredibly hostile era of the Voidsea's history, and have been able to emerge the other side all the better for it. Aiytr itself often feels like the odd ones out when it comes to the Union, but they have found themselves welcomed, and so attempt to honour that welcoming by giving the best they have to offer.

Description

From the Voidsea, Aiytr appears to have a green hue - this is a result of the chemicals within the atmosphere. High levels of methane, ammonia, and chlorine choke the world, making it intensely hostile to Kin.

The world does have liquid water, but it is a green colouration, due to high levels of iron. Much of the local water must be filtered before it can be drunk.

Aiytr's surface is rocky and uneven. The dominant forms of plant-life are green moss-like organisms, which have a documented five-hundred-twenty-one different species. The sky is a green hue, and even it's clouds are tinged green. Rain is light, and mildly acidic.

Settlements

The original Aiytran settlements were military outposts, that used the hostile conditions as a form of camouflage to conduct espionage. Few would suspect that a sizeable outpost was being hosted on such a hostile world. And even if one did, the atmosphere would interfere with any observations, making discovery all the more unlikely. A downside to this was that it also meant those on the Void Island had to enter the Voidsea to conduct their own operations. A fair trade off, to those in command.

Aiytran settlements were constructed with many redundancies. Should any one mechanism fail, others were meant to kick in. These were designed in a variety of ways, from withstanding electronic interference, to direct orbital bombardment. These redundancies are the main reason Aiytr survived - When the Technopocalypse occurred, Aiytran settlements survived by being designed to withstand electronic warfare. In the same vein, as various survivors floated in, some of the Void-Craft that were salvageable were landed on world, to act as makeshift lodgings. Over time, some of these were connected to one another by way of large tunnels. Initially overground, and eventually, underground.

Each settlement must be able to produce their own food and water supplies - Though trade between cities exists, this is more of a redundancy feature. Should a passageway collapse, as was not uncommon in the early days, a settlement needed to be able to hold itself together, otherwise it would face total eradication. This was a lesson that had to be learned the hard way, as several cities fell to this exact outcome. Community farming is also a major task taken on world. Agri-Worlds will often provide additional food, but once again, this is a redundancy in place in the event of a supply-chain failure.

Much Aiytran infrastructure is located underground, though much is above the surface to maximise capacity, as well as to connect them to the Voidsea. Proposals have been made to construct geodesic dome cities on it's surface, but the Aiytran's have consistently redirected those resources towards the Toxic Front and other projects across the Realm, seeing them as far more immediately important.
