Overview

Project Zero, or the "Department of Primordial Research and Development," was Ambrosia's foremost contemporary organization dedicated to the study and reverse engineering of ancient pre-Alizarani artifacts. Founded on planet Neo-Eden in the year 21 EE; (Ends Emergence) Project Zero once acted as the galaxy's go-to producer of experimental military technologies utilizing so-called "Primordial Artifacts;" a catchall term in reference to all remaining extant artifacts crafted prior to the Time of Ashes. However, following the beginning Havriel-Sanlagosa Crusade of 34 EE; Lakarda Lakvan — the founder and head of Project Zero — willingly shifted its whole focus to the defense of the Havriel species; moving away from intragalactic clientele and nationalizing its assets and remaining members to the control of the Havriel Alliance federal government.

For thirty years after; Project Zero acted as essentially the sole defensive asset the Havriel Alliance held against the Sanlagosa Concordant. The great majority of gains in the war, be it minor or major, was directly initiated by Project Zero due to the vast wealth of funds, resources, and operational assets gained over the years as an independent galactic arms-dealer. In-fact; without Project Zero, it is certain that the Concordant would have eradicated the whole of the Havriel in a matter of hours. Instead; through their efforts, the conflict lasted a prolonged and brutal fifty years.

While many of Project Zero's achievements rank amongst the galaxies most powerful creations; it would be one which bared their very name that became the single greatest. Poetically named "Project Zero;" this final experiment was an attempt to reverse engineer the process which granted the "Immortal Red Dragon" Mace Sappho his immense wealth of strength and power. This would result in the augmenting of a single young boy, codenamed simply as "Zero;" though he would later more famously be known as Seven Novum.

Despite their successes; the Sanlagosa remained a foe too powerful for any force in the galaxy to defat, as the Havriel species would ultimately face near-extinction following the destruction of their capital world of Lyarth in 84 EE. Project Zero's foremost surviving members, including Lakarda Lakvan, would ultimately be spared annihilations through the intervention of the Cognita-Mechandra; and would soon after induct each into its "Typhonian Order." The last remnants of Project Zero would end following Syx Corsage and Seven Novum's destruction of the Typhonian Order in the year 113 EE, though some of its members would survive and later join the Ring Majestic.

Structure

Project Zero's structure remained relatively consistent throughout both stages of its existence: Comprised of several distinct branches, each were charged with a specific goal in mind; all under the sole command of Project Director, a position exclusively held by Lakarda Lakvan for the whole of Project Zero's history.

In order these branches are:

  • Logistics Division
  • Chronicling Division
  • Investigatory Division
  • Operations Division
  • Weapons Division
  • Biotechnic Division

Logistics Division

The "brains" of Project Zero's operations; the Logistics Division was for the allocation of project resources to the whole of its enterprise efforts. Most often this responsibility was of fiscal means; as the Logistics Division held sole control over Project funds and its treasury, as well as price negotiating with prospective clients for services rendered; though this latter role largely died off following the Project's nationalizing. Similarly; the Logistics Division was responsible for the payment of wages and fees of its member personnel, with rates of pay dependent on rank, grade or role.

Beyond fiscal management, the Logistics Division served as the organization's primary procurement and supply-chain lifeline, managing the complex flow of both mundane and exotic materials required to meet their operational goals.

Chronicling Division

The Chronicling Division acts as the archivists of Project Zero; charting and cataloging all actions and discoveries made by the organization since its founding. It acted in a more background role in contrast to other divisions, with it overall having the least members of personnel of any of the Project's branches. This was due in large part to the division's function as most archiving was done remotely through the use of specially developed VI (Virtual Intelligence) programs with little needed organic oversight.

Regardless; the Chronicling Division served a crucial role within Project Zero as the project's initial aim was to catalog discovery of Primordial artifacts rather than further research and development upon them. Even after the reorganizing of the project; the utility pf cataloging discovery was not lost on Lakarda Lakvan and the Chronicling Division would remain as a distinct entity for the remainder of Project Zero's operations.
