An Einsam Class Object (or Rogue Stars) is an object not gravitationally bound to any galaxy. These stars are thought to have originated in the cores of galaxies, but have been ejected by some means. These objects are named for the planet, Einsam, one of the most famous of these objects.

History

The hypothesis that stars exist only in galaxies was disproven in 1997 with the discovery of intergalactic stars. The first to be discovered were in the Virgo cluster of galaxies, where some one trillion are now surmised to exist.[1]

Many estimates for how many stars are Einsam class have been proposed throughout the years, many ranging from ten to over fifty percent of all stars being Einsam Class. It wasn't until 2203, when telescope technology became developed enough to count each of the stars in the Local group. This took twenty years and a super computer built specifically to count each extra-galactic star. In 2224, the number of stars was approximately 33% of stellar mass has been ejected from the home galaxies. An early example of an Einsam class object is UDF 2457, a large red dwarf 2.6% the visual luminosity of Sol. It is 59000 ly away from Sol.
